Hello people,
I was just looking for some advice and/or experience with this question. I was planning on enrolling into NCTC, in Corinth Texas LVN program. It's a grand total of 42 hours/42 weeks long. 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.
The first semester is:
Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health 4 hours
Basic Nursing Skills 3 hours
Nursing in Health and Illness 1 4 hours
Essential of Medication Admin 2 horus
Clinical 1 3 hours
Now I have the option of taking A&P1 before I start the program and that's the only class I can take before. Is the classload by itself ok or do you guys think that is too much?
I've been getting really discouraged after reading a lot of blogs on this website about A&P1. I've been trying to start college for over a year but things keep holding me back. How will a job fit into my schooling? I currently work 12am-8am usually. The money factor shouldn't be too much of a problem because as a Iraq Veteran I'm eligable for the new 9/11 GI Bill that will pay 100% tuition, about 1,200 a month in my pocket, and 1,000 a year for books. That 1200 will pay my apartment rent, utilities and my truck note and insurance. I just got to make enough for gas and food and extra spending money etc.
But anyways what's your guys opinions on the classload?

If you can take the A&P Allied before the program. You will then get Fridays off through most of the program. Believe me you will be so glad. They do not require the 1&2 A&p . But if you take the 1 them the have to take the 2 also. The A&P Allied is just a one semester class. About work forget it. You may be able to work some weekends but believe me unless you are a brain and require little sleep you won't be able to work much if at all. Good luck
Thanks, I was thinking along the same line pretty much. Even with the 1200 a month I'll certanily still have to work still a little unless I decide to use my savings and if I have to I could always get a very small student load too to cover gas, food, extra spending money etc.
I'm actually working at a hospital right now..well a few... as a security officer. All the nurses in all the hospitals keep telling me that I should just go for RN. It's a year more, I'll have to drive farther than NCTC to any number of colleges with RN 22miles one way most likely choice. But still same boat as LVN I would still have to work =(. Sometimes I think to myself that college was only meant for the rich.

I'm taking A&P 1 (SCIT) at Brookhaven along with 3 other classes. Does anyone know if that A&P 1 will transfer to Corinth? Also, how hard is it to get in? I am NOT good at math and am in developmental math right now also at Brookhaven. I was wanting to try to get into the RN program but am startin to doubt I'll be able to!
also is it feasible to do this and raise two kids at the same time?
