NCTC ADN Fall 2014

Published

I just wondering if there are others out there applying this May for the Fall 2014 class. I just found out I have everything to apply at NCTC but with a B in A&P I I only have 10 points and I'm not sure if I will make the cut. Anyone else?

Good news everyone! My friend was at the office today and the lady said they were mailing out packets today or tomorrow morning. Be on the look out!

Thanks J

Fun fact! If you go to board of nursing website under licensing and the examination u put in your info and select RN NCLEX you can see when they have received you background check mine is already there since I'm a LVN

From my personal opinion - I would just purchase the box of books. You need online access for specific things ie SimChart, completing skills assignments, online access to your books. Purchasing everything separately might actually be more costly.

The blue care like jls0459 said is something you get after completing your background check. However, from my experience, it takes forever to come in. I started class without it. I did my background check at the beginning of December. 6 weeks later when classes started, no card! I actually didn't get mine until 3 weeks into the semester. You just have to let them know that you have not received it yet. The nursing office will get notification if your background check didn't clear.

With NCLEX review books, I have Saunders Comprehensive. While we are associated with Kaplan, I personally feel like it doesn't hurt to have different books. I use mine as a supplement to studying. It helps to have extra questions than the ones in the back of the chapters. And now that I am entering my 4th semester, I am using it to review content and to start prepping for NCLEX.

Honestly, in nursing school, you have to figure out what works for you. Don't rush out and buy every book because someone recommends it. Go to Barnes and Noble, sit down with book, and look it over before buying it. Hope this all helps!

I also wanted to say that many of your questions will be answered at orientation. I know it's hard not to plan everything now. There's so much excitement! But try to stay calm and just go with the flow.

Acceptance letters are being mailed out today, July 9. If you do not receive your letter by July 17, give us a call at 940-668-4264 or email [email protected].

Steve, did u get in did they call, website isn't updated?

That's what the website said. The letters were mailed today. I am alternate number 2 so still uncertain if and when I will get in. Just thought I would let all y'all know about the letters!

Thanks Steve, appreciate the info. Hope you receive a letter as we all do. Please post and let us know ASAP

Did anyone else get an email about changing their major to ADN? Do we literally need to call the school to change our major in the system or was that sent to just let me know I'm in? She said acceptance letter have been sent out and they'll register us first week of august.

The email is probably for the ones who didn't already have their major as adn. You should be able to change it on mynctc. I did not receive the email but my major has always been nursing.
