NCLEX training in the US

Hi,

I am from Japan and am a registered RN, I am wanting to pursue nursing in California, I heard that I will be able to by passing the NCLEX exam. I am currently studying English and I would like to take a NCLEX training program for foreign students. Does anyone know where I could take this kind of course and if it exists.

I would preferably like to do this in California, is it possibke does anyone have any advice?

Many thanks

Motoko

welcome

You are applying for licensure as RN of which NCLEX is part of that process. I would suggest reading the sticky called Primer to working in the US and you will find all relevant information there on what you need to do. Initially you will need to decide where you want to live and apply to that BON (board of nursing) although if CA is your place then it is not recommended initial application because they will not issue you with a license until you have a SSN which you can not get until legally in the US with a valid permit and you have 3 years to supply that SSN if not your file is cancelled. I would also suggest you read up on retrogression as you are currently affected by it as are all other nurses at the moment. You do not need to go to a review centre and many foreign nurses do not attend them but study themselves plus if a member of our site get support from the NCLEX forum which you can find in the student section. I would also suggest using the search facilities and keywords which will bring up threads which will offer more advice on why we recommend or not

Hope this helps

You will have problems trying to get a visa that will permit you to come to the US to take a review class for the NCLEX exam, as there are classes offered all over.

But there is no reason to take any of these review programs, you can easily do the preparation on your own. Check out the NCLEX Discussion Forum that we have here.

With the retrogression, there is also no way that you will be able to remain in the US; would not recommend what you wish to do.
