Nclex Tips & A Shot In The Arm Please!

Published

Hi. I am another NCLEX student, preparing for the exam.

Did anyone get discouraged, frustrated, exhausted during their studies? I am at that point. I'm trying to pace myself, but don't want to drag out my studies, nor do I want to schedule myself too early!

I'm working on Kaplans Qbank and the Saunders workbook with some improvement.

To those RNs, any encouragement for a tired out nursing student with 3 kids, a job and a stack of books and an online course to work on!!? Yikes!!! :monkeydance:

Good luck Devil Duckie. Tell me how it went. I recently took my exam on Aug. 1st; like you I had 265 questions. My name hasn't shown up online. I am already positive that I did not pass. I have not received my letter in the mail though!

How long did you receive your letter? The waiting is killing me. Although I am already positive that I failed, having a letter to confirm it will give me a peace of mind and will allow me to move on.

If you tested on June 26th and retesting on Aug 22nd, so that's 2 months preparation for you. I can't wait to test again. Good luck. You will pass it this time.

Aw, thanks for the encouragement! You should have heard whether you passed or not by now...I not only checked online, but I did the 'quick results' 48 hours after taking my NCLEX to find out for sure that I'd failed. And the packet arrived in the mail 2 weeks later, with my official results and an analysis on how I actually measured up. Good luck with your situation, maybe it's a paperwork error and you did actually pass??? We can only hope.

Less than a week away for mine and I'm ready to get it over with...not sure if I'm 100% ready, but I'm answering practice ?'s everyday (Saunder's CD) and memorizing my lab values like crazy. I'll keep ya posted! ;) Take care!

Devil Duckie,

I took my test in CA. Unfortunately, our state doesn't have quick result. It's hard and painful.

Thanks for the info. My letter should be arriving soon since it has been more than two weeks since I took my exam.

Good luck again.

Here's the deal. By this point you either know it or you don't. I studied my butt off before NCLEX and I swear that nothing I studied was on NCLEX., and I passed at 106 questions. You have done however long in nursing school, hopefully you passed with good grades, so that in itself should be golden. Remember that NCLEX is testing you at the minimum level of competency for a beginner nurse. I say if there is one or two subjects you really have a difficult time with review the material for those subjects, otherwise just relax. Doing the stupid questions out of the books that you probably have 20 of that you paid $45 a piece for is a waste. Reading the Kaplan book on HOW to take the NCLEX is a good resource though. Best of luck!

Hmmm, I see. Yeah, I've heard that the wait in CA is frustrating as heck. Well, miracles do happen, maybe you'll get it in the mail in the next few days and we'll be celebrating a new RN! Buuuuut, if you happened to have not passed (I don't like saying failed, it's not a failure, just a setback!), then keep your chin up. It's a minor setback and sure, a little frustrating, but you will knock 'em dead next time!

devil ducky---i'll be thinking of you on the 22nd!!!!!!!!! i'm sending you positive thoughts---will keep you informed...let's trudge on!!!

ps, your cat doesn't really qualify---but i they're a responsibility and do give back so much love!
