NCLEX Thursday..... I need Advice!!!

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hey guys! I am new to this forum. I have found it to be very imformative and helpful. So I thought I would ask you guys for some advice! I am scheduled to take boards Thursday 8/25/05. I have suddenly become SO nervous, I feel like I have forgotten EVERYTHING I learned in school. Anyways I have read several post that say priority questions are the majority of the questions on the NCLEX. Any Tips to answering these kind of questions?

I know to remember the ABC's and Saftey is always number 1, any other general guidelines besides those?

Thank you guys!

it's time to relax now, two days before the exam. just trust ur judgments, oh and wear something yellow, uhhh someone told me that and i guess there's a scientific study for some reason that people who wear bright yellow during an exam tend to get higher grades for some reason.....hey couldn't hurt right

:lol2: I'll have to try that! Thank you for your reply. I know I need to stop studying and have confidence  Wish Me luck!

No matter what...take a break. Just kick back from the PC and go out of the room for 15 minutes and then come back in. It will relax you. And do not freak if you go over 75 questions and the PC does not shut off. Just remember to breathe.

NO MORE STUDYING!!!!!

It's all up there in your head - promise!

And you will walk away from it tomorrow drained and feeling like you just ran a marathon.

Everybody's exam is different. I was stressed about doseage calcs and heard from one person a good 1/3 of his exam was just that. I had TWO questions! What I did have more of that some others - were questions on cultural differences and how it related to care. Mine was heavy geri and another's pedi - it just isn't going to matter what you cram for - it will be something other than that - so JUST RELAX - you can do it! You will do wonderfully regardless of how you feel when you walk out.

Time to relax your body, mind and soul today. Pamper yourself. Stay off the phone. Turn inward and do not let negative anything invade your space.

And at my testing center - they handed out earplugs. I used them all through school as well on the exams. Helped me tune out any type of distracting noises, although the room will be very quiet - you should be in an individual padded study carol (cell?!) - but the earplugs might be something to use. Ask for them. They won't let you take them in but definitely should provide them.

My exam shut off at 86. Another's that day went the whole 200+. It's arbitrary. Was told something like this a couple of times... Every 10th machine throughout everywhere who logs on to the testing site - will automatically go the full distance. Don't know if that is fact or fiction. Just don't stress if it does. Just ride it out - get in the testing zone - and know you are going to be an awesome nurse!

Best of luck! And let us know how you do!

best of luck thursday
