Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Just graduated my RN nursing program. What did you use to study for the NCLEX & how long did you wait to take it?

Yes! I’m interested

I took my test (PN NCLEX) yesterday at 11:00 a.m and used the PVT and got the “bad pop up” your credit care has been declined, please contact your credit care company. Did I fail?

Hey, guys.

To all who took NCLEX 2020, did you think UWorld did a good job preparing you guys?

I graduated August first started studying on the 5th. Took my NCLEX Sept 10th and passed in 60 questions. It took about 45 mins. I primarily used Saunders and a little ATI

Hey guys! It's been a while since I visited this page. WIll take NCLEX RN tomorrow. Work and study at the same time is really a struggle but I know I have prepared hard for it! Praying for a positive result ?

Squareroot, I totally agree with regarding working and studying at the same time is a struggle that many of face. We will get through the NCLEX because we have gotten this far and finished nursing school!! Did you find that Archer & Mark K prepared you for the NCLEX? What was your study plan (how many hours you studied, how many days and how many questions you did in one sitting?) Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks for posting your resources used for preparing for the NCLEX! There are many of us that are not able to buy the popular studying material such as (UWorld, Kaplan, Hurst etc.)

I’ve been using Nurse achieve for the CAT mock exams but IDK whether or not to say that it’s helpful. I just took my test today and won’t find out results until Friday. Will update then. Stay positive and please keep me lifted in prayer. My anxiety is through the roof

Prayers for RN behind your name! You got this!!

Thank you so much. In God I trust!

Hi butterfly2015,

I am not use Archer. As my previous post, I use only Saunders questions bank, UWorld, and Mark audio.  I have Saunders book, but I don’t have time to review its content because I felt like if I open it,  I started reading, not studying as I should. That way distracts my concentration and feel stress with a thought that to many thing I am not know, then become panick...Remember, it is no way that we can remember everything. Most important thing that you need to prepare for NCLEX if “KEEP YOU STAY AWAY FROM NERVOUS”. My priority is set up do review practice questions  everyday at the time that my NCLEX exam is. I study total 4-5 wks (I have already taken off a Distracted week of “go back and forth between materials”. Most that 1st 3wks I do Saunders bank. Then I actually pushed my review focus on 2wks with UWorld and Mark’s Free Video.  I made a stable schedule for that 2wks. If you are at work, my suggest is to take 2wks off to have full focus reviewing. My reviewing schedule was full time, but having balance with family care and relax between studies. In the morning walking exercise while listening to Mark free (1 video long, just listening), then rest for breakfast, back to rewrite it. Then do Saunders question bank. I did not choose topic to set up for the practice test.  Instead,  I choose “All” and set 100 questions. However, I didn’t do all of them at a time. Just practice it and read its rational, tips, strategies for 1hr ( sometimes I do only 15-25questions Due to reading rational if any procedures, therapy, medical words ...that I don’t remember, I would not look back the book, but Google for video, images,...Remember! Should not care about score and numbers of questions, but make sure read “detailed” for rational, tips, and strategy. Each question you do, it is one lesson you already review. Therefore treat each questions as a real test. After done, in rational If don’t remember any on it , take time to Google it. After feel enough for that period of time, take rest, relax, do all stuffs for family.
My schedule for real exam was 2, so I set up UWorld practice at that time. However, for this I have to set 75-85 questions. And practice it Between breaks until bedtime. It took very long time like that because I had to read rational detailed after every single question. I especially took notes and rewrite any skills that have Put in order, steps, priority and compared with previous notes to see why the same content but it lead to choose different answers.  If during this time I had to go somewhere, I would do Saunders questions on the way as if playing a game (also, don’t mind right or wrong, but does need to read rational, I felt enjoy doing it).

Before getting into sleep, I would do fast reading My Mark’s rewrite notes that I did in the morning, labs, therapeutic med ranges, insulin therapeutic (must review all meds that you learn from pharm class for Diabetes: both hypo-, hyper-)

3 day before my real Exam, I did Assignment test on UWorld, listening all Mark videos again, fast go over labs values agains, therapeutic med range again,  OB stages and phases again, .... it was like I look over all my notes again for fun.

I did not take A day off before test for break or refresh my brain. It is up to you. I felt fine to keep my “routine” work for the day. I had already had a balance between rest and review during that 2 weeks. Therefore I feel really  relax in that day, so if not do anything I would felt boring. So I reread mark notes and labs as read a story . Still do questions as playing game right on parking lot while waiting to get in the building.

In general, set practice questions at the same time as your scheduled NCLEX, and  do it everyday  as a priority! (When I took my real NCLEX, I felt like I do another practice exam, not feel any stress or nervous at all). To be honest, I am a second language, anxiety test taker, ... all I said above does help me. After exam, I think most that failed us is that our nervousness. I think I was on a right way in reviewing for NCLEX when create a “routine” and It completely help me overcome my anxiety and ready for the test. Remember, All materials you have already know during nursing school, this period is just the time to recall it. So don’t panick to think that you do not remember. You have it in there somewhere in your memory, but because not often use, it becomes fade-away, but alway there for you to recall and pull out to use when you face to situation that matching it. Be confident. That is why I chose do practice questions and not read the book at all. Practice questions help me build up my critical thinking and help me prioritize.

After done taking  my exam, I understand why it sounds easy to many and why many still not passed. For many who not passed yet. Don’t put you down on all negative thinking. You are smart enough to passed program. I think only thing that  contribute to your unsuccess is that you are not have a balance between work and review. If you put an important on pass the NCLEX, as my suggested, get off your work, and give it a full focus for at least 2 full time week review in the way you feel most fix and comfortable. If you are still not know what to do. Give yourself a night to think, push on “scale” to see what should be done 1st and what should be next for your near future plan . And go for it! I believe if you already passed nursing classes. There is no way you failed in NCLEX. Don’t let people scared you. Trust on yourself. You can do it!

I hope you and all who will take NCLEX soon that all of you will pass it. I am looking forward all your posts again ?

Best Luck ?

Beautiful! Thanks for the information and congrats again!!
