Nclex studying trouble

Published

I graduated 7/11/14 took some time off and had a little vacation to clear my head since my program was very intense. I was given ati tutor from school but not very helpful. I have Saunders and Kaplan but still not sure how to study. Studying for exams is very different. They say study what you feel is your weakest but that is not helping either. Any suggestions? I feel like I'm all over the place jumping from I one book to another

First figure out what type of study plan works best for you. Next choose a review program. You may select to just use review books or a formal program such as Kaplan or HURST. Put together a study plan you can stick to and stick to it. :-) one of the main things you MUST do is believe that you can and will pass the NCLEX. God bless you.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

The issue may not necessarily the source of the review, but how one approaches the NCLEX itself: understanding the four concepts of becoming a competent, entry-level nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2.Health promotion;

3.Physiological Integrity;

4.Psychosocial integrity

Will determine WHAT the question is asking you; the question may be Respiratory related-but is it a Health Promotion or a Safety, or a Physiological or a Psychosocial one? Would you know the difference and choose the BEST answer?

Once one understands the concepts of NCLEX, they can do so successfully.

It appears the you need to learn to understand WHAT the question is asking you; THEN review the rationales, THEN if you don't understand the rationale, look to the sources of information.

If you know what your weakness are-one of the four concepts-then you can make that a priority in your studying.

Best wishes.
