I took my test about a week ago and passed with 75 questions. I promised myself that if I passed Nclex I will post and share my experience with you. To be honest, I was extremely stressed and I think I went on this website almost everyday for reassurance.
I only used Kaplan to prepare for the test. However, I felt kind of queasy about my content area especially since i didn't review fundamentals and med-surg in more than a year. Therefore, I started my study sessions with content review. This is how i broke down my 4 weeks of study.
Week 1: Read the content review book (600 pages 0 that kaplan offers about a week before I took the class. I read about 50-100 pages a day.
Week 2:Took the Kaplan class for about 4 days and I did all the tests they required: the diagnostic, qt1, qt2, qt3, and the readiness test.
Week 3: Did about 75-150 questions a day from the qbank and then i REVIEWED each rationale. I used the kaplan book for reference and read the topics I was getting wrong again. By the end of week 3, I went through the kaplan book AGAIN (2nd time).
Also, at the end of the day (when i was really tired of test taking and felt super sleepy) I watched the content review lectures offered by kaplan.
I took really detailed notes on the pharm section (I really loved the way they organized their meds). For the other sections like infection control, and so on I only watched the videos and followed with the book while listening.
Week 4: Went through the kaplan content book again (3rd time) and started taking notes on what I was having a hard time remembering like addison vs cushing, ms vs m gravis etc...I still did about 50-100 questions a day form the kaplan: test 1, 2, 3, and 4 and of course the qt 6 and 7!!!
During the last week, I would wake up every morning and go over my meds once. It really helped me remember them.
PS: My scores were anywhere btw 59-80 on the q bank tests and my overall score was 68%. Study hard!
I wish all of you the best of luck.
