Hey all, I am a new member but I have been browsing allnurses website for the past two weeks and I must say that it helped prepare for the NCLEX RN. Well ,today I faced the "monster" and I got the good "popup", I am praying that this is a good indication of passing. I had said that after my exam I will come and share how I prepared as well as my experience. I graduated in May 5th 2012, took 2 weeks off and began the Kaplan course in mid May. After completing the course I gave myself 3 solid weeks to study. To be honest most of my studying was just completing the Q trainer q's, and I completed 100% of the Q-bank questions. I only utilized Kaplan course book to refer to any topic that I was unfamiliar with. Otherwise my studying was basicly reading the rationales which helped me alot. Kaplan Scores :
Diagnostic test: 49%( aaaaaaacchhwww)
Readines test : 56% ( which means a 92% chance of passing according 2 Kaplan)
Q trainer 1:56%
Qtrainer 2: 52%
Qtrainer 3: 56%
Took these test after kaplan course :
Q trainer 4: 49% ( aaaaaaachhhhwww lots of tears this day)
Q trainer 5: 56%
Q trainer 6: 60%
Q trainer 7: 58%
completed all Q bank q's with 58%........ As you can see my scores were not that great but one thing I can say is dont get too hanged up on your score instead evaluate how much you are learning from your scores. I learned alot from the rationales.
Those who are not taking kaplan, regadless of the resource you are using please pay close attention to the rationales because you learn more from that.
I must say that I was very nervous but one thing that helped me alot was prayers!!!!! yes if it was not for my God I think I would have passed out in the testing room but with lots of prayers I was able to stay calm, and focused on answering the questions.
I got 75 questions.... I had about 15 SATA, 4 med calc, 2 exhibit, 2 picture.......
For those who are preparing to take this exam please remember that you have learned alot through your nursing program, if you made it through, then you can make it through the NCLEX exam, Remember that what good thing God has started He will finish it. Pray, believe in yourself, Stay positive and You will do great. If I can be of any help please feel free to contact me.
Wish me luck as I wait for the Official results :)
OMG!! Took the NCLEX today @ 2PM--75 questions and BLUE SCREEN -- then survey !!
I am soooo nervous-a ton of SATA and 1 dosage question !! I finished in 50 minutes
and was the first person to leave--and NOT the first to start.
I know if the test halts at 75 questions--it's because you were doing really well or
really poorly.
Need to wait til Thurs afternoon == PV trick gave me GOOD POP UP==so I am hopeful
but cautious!!
Will prob pay $8 for results on Wed and check BON site for confirmation!!
Good Luck to all!!
Loved your post! I also graduated May 5 & am a new member of allnurses. I have been trying to read thru posts to get ideas of the best material to study. I test next Thursday (6/28) & my nerves are flying high! I have gone to tutoring and have gone thru 2 years of ATI assessment preparation in nursing school but feel so overwhelmed at this point as to where to even 'start' as far as brushing up on what I need to know. The only book I have is the Lippincott Q & A review for NCLEX-RN, 10th ed, but I have not read very many good reviews for this book. Do you have any suggestions or think it's too late at this point to try start reviewing another source? THANKS for any help you can give & Congratulations on passing the boards! I always say...TO GOD BE THE GLORY ,...or TGBTG!! :)
Got results yesterday from PV--Passed---no problem. Worried becuz only had 75 Qs--YAY--it's official--I am an RN !!!
Now--back to school in Spring!!! Thank you to my classmates, friends!! And to my FAMILY and Brad for your undying love and support!!
Best of luck to everyone--keep at it--YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!!!!!
KristiPete11,
First of all I want to wish you all the best with your upcoming NCLEX, stay positive, believe in urself because you CAN do it......I have not heard anything about the Lippincott Q & A review for NCLEX-RN, but since you have one week I would suggest you stick with that review book, the main thing is take those practice questions and read the rationales.... I tried not to use too many resources because I did not want to stress myself. Yes NCLEX is challenging but if you Believe in yourself, n let God take control you sure will be able to answer those questions, take your time read questions very carefully and you will do Great!!!!!!!!!! thank you hope this helps....
