NCLEX - RN

Published

Before today, I had promised myself to create an account in this resourceful blog and thank everyone who had posted their Nclex experiences and helpful study guides!

I took the BIG exam today. Had 75 questions, by the times it reached 70 questions I was praying God to stop this exam at 75. It did, I was soo happy and shaky after the exam that I hardly read the survey thing after. I did the PVT like 10 minutes after and got the popup, I am hoping that it means I have passed the exam.

I am going to share how I prepared for this exam since reading other's blogs have been morally supportive and helpful while preparing for this day.

I took the Kaplan program which I would recommend everyone. The decision tree they taught was useful while answering the questions. I did not listen to all their content videos but the ones I did, esp Pharm, was helpful!! I would highly recommend at least skimming through the Pharm content in the Kaplan book.

I had bought Saunder's (yellow book) a semester before I graduated and read few chapters. Honestly, I didn't read a whole lot from this book but it was a good reference for the content area I wasn't sure about.

I made sure I did atleast 50 questions everyday. After taking few minutes break, I read and understood every rationales which I think is one of the most important thing. I did not over-stress myself but I studied atleast few hours everyday with breaks.

Couple days before the exam I went into relaxing mode. I read the study guide that has been circulating here and did few practice questions. The evening before the exam, I watched TV, ate good food, tried to go to yoga class but didn't work with my schedule. That night, I slept for eight hours even though I was waking up few times during the night with panic attacks. Ate good breakfast in the morning, reviewed my lab values, reached at the test center 30 minutes ahead of time, tried to stay calm, and took two deep breaths before I started the exam!!

Goodluck everyone with your NCLEX prep. If I did it, I am sure you all will pass with flying colors =)
