NCLEX RN 2013 retakers

Published

Hi everyone, nurses and future nurses,

I just wanna ask if there are nclex-rn takers here after April 2013?

For those who did retake it and passed, what are your study tips? what are the things that you did differently this second time around in regards to your review? I am a retaker as well. I took the June 2013 and will retake the exam on october.

Thanks for your help. PLease keep positive posts here, lets encourage and help each other  :bookworm:

i took it yesterday and passed!! hurst review all the way! i did live review just because it kept me focused and then they have some online content as well. the study packet they give you is AMAZING! just learn what is in the book and you can answer any question. it cut off at 130 right after i took a break!!

Congratulations!!! ---> "i took it yesterday and passed!!"-snuraer.

I am re-taking NCLEX on August 31st. I am starting Hurst Review on Monday. Praying to the LORD that I pass this time around. :-/

First time I took it in June (failed with 265 questions). The second time I took it in July (passes with 75 questions). I did not purchase any reviews. I did go out and buy the Kaplan book and believe it or not there was one chapter in the book that made things click for me (the chapter on test taking strategies). I do believe that my issue was extreme anxiety because I was so nervous the first time, but when I took it the second time (after getting something for anxiety from my doctor) I was much more relaxed and able to think clearly when each question popped up on the screen.

Thanks for the encouragement. I definitely could relate I have anxiety problems too. Also I had poor training on test taking strategies especially the SATA questioning. I am glad you replied here, it gave me confidence not to get any more of the online reviews because it is very pricey. THanks so much for the help.

hey everyone,

I want to start by saying I took my nclex rn exam on aug 2 2013 and failed. Prior to the exam I reviewed a whole month with kaplan and did over 1,000+ questions. During the exam I felt like I didn't know the content. It shut of at 75 which means I failed it miserable too.

So the past 2 weeks I've been very depressed and calling myself an idiot for failing. Why me"? All my classmates passed and we all reviewed the same. I guess it wasn't mean to be..

SO i purchased HURST online..and am slowly gaining confidence..I Hope to retake it by the end of next month, im waiting for my ATT number.

Thank you so much for all your posts..I don't feel so alone anymore..Good luck to everyone studying!!

Hey! I just took the NCLEX for the second time about a week ago and passed! Don't give up! I wrote about my story and advice on studying for it here: https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/how-pass-nclex-853528.html

Good luck, you will do great!

Hey! I too failed the NCLEX my first time which was in June. I wanted to believe there was something wrong with me or that I was an idiot but YOU ARE NOT AN IDIOT. they actually raised the passing standard this past April and made it harder to pass, so you are not dumb at all. Unfortunately we just happened to get stuck with the harder test. Don't give up, keep studying and you WILL PASS. You made it through nursing school, which was the hardest part. I know this feels like the hardest thing by it felt that way to me, but I studied hard and passed on my second try at the end of August. You can do it!

This is in response to Anileve

thank you rclittle10 and congratulations!!!!

hey all just wanted to write an update...I took my NClex RN today and did the PVT and got the "good pop up"...i hope this means i may have passed..

So I am doing the Hurst Review right now to get ready for my boards. Do you think it helped greatly when taking the boards? I am worried about not knowing enough content or diseases when going into the exam.. what did you think of the hurst review and the content it provided and then questions you saw on the exam?

Hi I'm a retaker nd don't know from where to start again?for wat should I go next nd wat is d best way to study???
