Hi guys!
I just took my NCLEX RN exam. At 82 questions, the computer just when blue on me. I started to freak out. At this point does the last question matter? I think I had it right. I was expecting 265 questions. I am not one of those SMART student. Im not planning on doing the trick because if I failed my $200 will be gone. What are my chances with that last question? Please help....

There's only one way to know if you for sure either passed or failed NCLEX when you leave the testing center. That one way is for your test to shut off at 75 questions. When your test shuts off at 75, the NCLEX algorithm has either deemed you minimally competent to be a nurse, meaning you do not need to prove your capabilities any further. Or the algorithm has figured out that no matter how many questions you get, you're not going to prove yourself to be a minimally competent nurse. In both scenarios of the test shutting off at 75, getting the last question right or wrong would not make a difference since the algorithm has 74 other questions to judge (I hope that makes sense- think of it like this, if you get a test in nursing school with 75 questions and only get the last question incorrect, you obviously still passed regardless that you answered the last question wrong. And vice versa, if you get a 75 questions test and answer half of them wrong, but answered the last question on the test correctly, it doesn't matter- you still failed the test).
If you get anymore questions past 75, even just one, that means the algorithm isn't sure about you yet.
What I stated above is fact, and what I am typing now is speculation... To me it makes sense that answering the last question correctly signifies passing once you've received more than 75 questions. I say that because the test has to decide to cut you off somehow, but why would the test cut you off and deem failure after answering a question correctly?
Thanks for the explanation í ½í¸©I feel awful

Yes I can but after 48 hrs
Depending on what state you live in, you may be able to get it quicker. For example, I live in Illinois, and we can get our results in about 24-36 hours through continentaltesting.com

You said you don't want it to take your 200$ if you failed. If you did indeed fail (hope you didn't), what's the difference if you pay it now or later? Morale of the story - just do the PVT and see what happens lol.
Let us know how it turns out.

What types of questions were you given towards the end?

I took mine today too but only had 4 SATA and it shut off at 75 so I'm worried I didn't pass:(
Well, Well , Well!
Thank you all for your responses. It is official I failed; Iam so devastated right now. Was I that bad? Not passing with 82 questions means I don't really the minimum level. Now where should I go from here? How should I prepare for the next one in about 2 or 3 months from now? I did Kaplan with the first one now Im planning to go with Uworld. Any advice on how to pass a second time will be appreciated.
Thanks again
