NCLEX RN October 2018

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello ,

I just received my ATT. I am using UWORLD and Saunders. I found Kaplan to be useless:(

I wanted to know how much time you gave yourself to study? Did anyone just jump in and test? Part of me wants to take this test next week and get it over with, the other part is telling me to take my time.

I am writing down the rationales in UWORLD- I retain the information better.

Also , if you already took the NCLEX- how was your experience? There is so much content to cover on UWORLD , that is is making me feel as if I need to know everything!

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the update. That is vague, so it seems uworld is harder and prepped you more? I hope you did well and thanks for checking in. I know this time is super stressful for us test takers!:sorry:

Any math or strips? Uworld did not focus alot on that for me....... (crying internally)

I will not push this date back......

I feel like uWorld prepped me, yes, but on the days near the NCLEX, I definitely felt like I overstudied due to my test scores wavering down (I know they don't matter and rationales do, but still!). I was living and breathing uWorld rationales basically.

No math for me, which is fine, I guess? They're not really considered higher level questions anyway from what I've read on older posts due to not needing critical thinking to answer. I got bummed out though! I was so ready to do some Parkland/Rule of 9s calculations, lol.

Strips, yes. Strips that are SATAs -.- I got like three of them.

Don't push it back! You are probably ready right now! :)

Thanks so much and keep me posted! I am on uworld now - writing these rationales out. Thank you again!

Will do!

If you don't have time to finish the questions, at least try and finish the leadership/management section in its own test. A lot of people overlook it.

Update!! I passed! :D

I would like to share my struggles with passing the exam. Passed on my 3rd try. 1st I used kaplan and NCSBN, it did work for me cause I did struggle with the SATA questions. I failed after 75 Qs. I was also reading books like saunders and lippincott. 2nd try ,Kaplan and some online resources and really spent twice learning than what I did on the first. Failed after 250 Qs. Basically run out of time. After the 2nd time, I knew I was really struggling with the SATA and ask my self why. In kaplan, there is not much of this type of questions. Then I tried Uworld. Bought the 30 day review online questions and I can say this one is pretty similar with the type of questions on the NCLEX. This is the only thing I used to prepare myself till my exam. I couldn't really advice anymore than what you have probably read in this website and I would say thank you to those really encouraging ones! If you use Uworld, don't worry if you get 40% or less than 50% correct answer. Knowing and understanding why you got it wrong is far more important. That is what I did and I pass after 75 Qs. Remember your basic stuff like ABGs, and normal values. Also the difference between Hypos and hypers so that you won't get confused. This will help you eliminate wrong answers. Maybe this is the only thing kaplan has taught me. Another thing in Uworld, delegation, leadership and management is better explained than kaplan. The time I made the decision to take the exam is after I finished all 2100 Qs from Uworld and studied/rechecked all my mistakes. I was doing 25-50 questions at a time maybe 4-6 times aday. In this way, I don't get over saturated and gives me a break to check my errors easily.
