  1. Hi Mina, I passed on the 3rd time after using Uworld. Only thing that I remembered from Kaplan which I used on my 1st and 2nd try try was to eliminate choices. One thing to check is NCLEX will change the format of questions soon. Better check that on the website NCSBN. I passed after 75 Qs. For me Uworld was similar on how the nclex style of questioning. leadership/management and prioritization. I finished all 2100 in Uworld and I reviewed all my mistakes. Frankly speaking, my score was between 45-60%. 2 days prior to my test, I was still not confident but my brain is slowing down and getting too tired. Know your labs, the difference between the hypo and hypers cause this help me choose the right answers especially with the SATAs. I had a few meds questions too. Understand their action and precautions related to it like its toxicity levels. Understand the question asked and always read the answer choices. Look at the answer choices and ask yourself like "is this about hypothy or hyperthyroid" etc.
  2. No I did not get any case study questions. I took mine last October 9.
  3. I would like to share my struggles with passing the exam. Passed on my 3rd try. 1st I used kaplan and NCSBN, it did work for me cause I did struggle with the SATA questions. I failed after 75 Qs. I was also reading books like saunders and lippincott. 2nd try ,Kaplan and some online resources and really spent twice learning than what I did on the first. Failed after 250 Qs. Basically run out of time. After the 2nd time, I knew I was really struggling with the SATA and ask my self why. In kaplan, there is not much of this type of questions. Then I tried Uworld. Bought the 30 day review online questions and I can say this one is pretty similar with the type of questions on the NCLEX. This is the only thing I used to prepare myself till my exam. I couldn't really advice anymore than what you have probably read in this website and I would say thank you to those really encouraging ones! If you use Uworld, don't worry if you get 40% or less than 50% correct answer. Knowing and understanding why you got it wrong is far more important. That is what I did and I pass after 75 Qs. Remember your basic stuff like ABGs, and normal values. Also the difference between Hypos and hypers so that you won't get confused. This will help you eliminate wrong answers. Maybe this is the only thing kaplan has taught me. Another thing in Uworld, delegation, leadership and management is better explained than kaplan. The time I made the decision to take the exam is after I finished all 2100 Qs from Uworld and studied/rechecked all my mistakes. I was doing 25-50 questions at a time maybe 4-6 times aday. In this way, I don't get over saturated and gives me a break to check my errors easily.
  4. You're a special kind of inspiration to people like me who at one point felt the frustration of failure.
  5. I just took mine last Saturday, 5th of May. Run out of time after 253. I went to kaplan review and mostly concentrated on their questions. I realized that the answer on each question when I review is not as important as understanding the reason. On your review, start thinking about why is it the right anwers. It made me more confident answering questions which focus on one illness, disease or disorder. It mostly ends up with WHAT is more important. SATA is a big thing. I had 3 in a row. Start up with where did you get confused. This is my 2nd attempt. Failed after 75 questions in my first. I only did self review on that and after I read the result of my exam I asked my self why. I answered 1000's of questions before my first but it didn't really help me.
  6. To be honest, I don't know how to type down exactly how I feel. Anyways, I just did my nclex exam and I run out of time after 255 Q. My plan was to concentrate on the first 100 questions and hoping I'll make it around that number. I guess my gamble didn't work. I got caught up mostly on the SATA questions. I mean I had alot like maybe around 20 on the first 75 questions.I took the Kaplan review but to be honest, It didn't really help me as much as I was hoping to. I concentrated too much with their question banks but the questions I encountered is just of a different level. To be fair, I don't blame anyone other than myself. This is my 2nd attempt after i failed late last year. I was desperate to pass it this time but after i run out of time, boomm!!! I just wanna cry and I did. I knew I have to do it all over again and wait for another 4 months to take the exam again. That is how long CBON takes to process a reapplication. Mixture of shame, frustration, depression, etc.... I don't know. I know some of you have read the same stories like mine. One thing I feel right now is if I ever pass this NCLEX exam, It would be like winning a consolation prize after knowing alot of people who passed the first time and making it only with 75 questions. Just remembered one tip on how to answer a question in nclex to never choose the option asking "why" but after you fail the exam, that is the hardest question to find the answer.
  7. reading all the stories and struggles everyone has endure and with positive outcome is inspiring. I just took the dreaded NCLEX this today and I run out of time after 255. My plan was to concentrate on the first 75 hoping I'll make it after. I guess I spent too much time. This is my 2nd attempt and I feel defeated and so depressed that I have to do it all over again. I studied alot but wasn't expecting to encounter tons of SATA questions. I read alot of comments about nclex and it sounds like sata's are getting more and more. I didn't have any calculations at all. I just hope I could share the same joy like most of you who post their triumphs. But I kinda feel giving up at this point.
