NCLEX-RN in Nov-Freaking out!

Published

Hi all,

I will be taking NCLEX-RN this November and had tons of books(bought and borrowed)I am halfway using Saunders and realized that I am freaking out now. The questions and my knowledge is messed up! I started on La Charity 3/4 of it and still not confidence. I still have kaplan, Lippoinett(something like that?) havent started and left with less than 2 months. I feel like I had lost the match and outbeaten by the exam already! Anybody have any valuable advice please? medications seems to be endless for me and always new drugs coming before I memorize the old one. :(:crying2:

Thank you so much for reading the post!

Stop making yourself crazy. Choose ONE study guide. Give yourself a specific amount of time to study each day, no more than 2 hours. Use a timer, if needed.

You already should know nearly everything you need to know.

Panic and anxiety serve no cause. You will be fine.

Now take some deep breaths, and tell yourself that you will do well.

Best wishes!!!

I agree. You should stick to one study tool and be consistent. I used Kaplan and found that to be very similar to NCLEX, the practice tests even look the same. I did practice questions everyday, and read every rationale. I looked up any answers I got wrong and wrote them down in a notebook. However do what works best for you. NCLEX is the most nerve-wrecking thing you will do, but once you get it over with you can breathe a sigh of relief.

First off, it is IMPOSSIBLE to know everything for NCLEX. Take a deep breath, and try and focus on your studying rather than focusing on your need to study. Freaking out is not going to do you any favors, so try and relax a little.

As far as studying goes, learn the big concepts that will help you navigate your way to the best answer. Kaplan is very helpful by giving you a mode to find the answer you already knew. A few things that I remember from taking the exam:

Meds to know: Anitbiotics (mostly cross rxn's, broad vs narrow spectrum), Ativan, Digoxin, potassium, insulin, and diuretics to name a few.

Also NCLEX likes endocrine disorders such as Cushings and Addisons.

Good luck and don't forget to take at least a day before the exam to take a break from your studies to collect yourself!!!!

I'm taking mine on November, too :):):) Best of Luck to us shannalim....

Don't freak out! Easier said I know. I just got my license today!! I took the NCLEX-RN in August and freaked myself out and failed. I studied Kaplan for the 1st one and spent $400 on the online review package. I spoke with other students that passed with 75 questions the 1 st time and they studied Saunders (the blue book with CD) It is the older edition but worked!

I did all 4, 214 questions on the Saunders CD. The questions are very similar to the exam. Straight and to the point.

I was a Dean's list student in my BSN program and was mortified that I failed the 1st time.

But, I simply got freaked out because I was studying from the wrong material.
