Just wandering if anyone can tell me some differences between the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-LPN test. I have failed the NCLEX-RN a couple of times, and I am debating sitting for the LPN test. Is there much of a difference between the two? All I know is that they cost the same. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

The roles between RN and PN are different and so are the exams. Personally I would just concentrate on RN and consider doing Suzanne's plan. All information can be found in the stickies on the main NCLEX forum

the PN nurses are the LVNs as well ...they can do the tasks of the nursing assistants plus giving of medications except for IV push and certain tasks while of course the RNs can do it all..and they do the assessments especially the baseline assessment (like for example before BT, right?), health teachings, giving of IV push for meds, etc. umm, it's actually on the saunders's 4th ed-chap.8. and of course yes..exam and salary like they say is way different, right?
Each state will have different scopes for PN/VN same as pay etc.
I have failed the NCLEX-RN a couple of times and I am actually waiting on results from my most recent attempt. The test stopped at 75. Lots of SATA, Priority, Meds, and 2 Dosage Calc. I have tried Suzanne's plan (Saunders) in the past, Kaplan, and NCSBN online course. I know I have test anxiety, I am near passing in the content areas. I am just wandering if I need to approach nursing in steps. I am currently working as a CNA. If I were to pass the NCLEX-LPN and work as an LPN for awhile would that help in better preparing me for the NCLEX-RN. Right now I am just so frustrated and depressed. I don't know what else to do or how to study differently. Thanks for listening!

The exams are significantly different, going for the PN exam would require a full study period to prepare for it; same as you did for the RN exam.
Did you complete my first tip or my entire program? Your user name does not look familiar to me, do not remember sending you anything at all in the past. The first tip that is posted is only a review and is not my program.

I decided to take my LVN boards after completing my 3rd semester in a BSN program. I did this and worked on a med-surg floor throughout the summer and prn during my last semester. I passed with 85 questions without studying. It was very basic info to me, alot Infection control, some meds, dont remember any prioritizing or delegation. I think that the major difference, but it seemed very easy. I sit for my RN boards tomorrow! I will be able to tell u the difference tomorrow

All of my colleagues who took the PN test prior to the RN test remarked that they thought the PN test was harder. That could have been because they were taking the NCLEX for the first time. However, I would not count on the PN test being easier. You should concentrate on studying for the RN test.
I took the RN nclex thursday and passed with 75 questions. Trust me the LVN boards are easier. The two do not compare. On the nclex rn u have to be able to critically think and the LVN boards are like first semester of RN school questions. My class was called competencies and I think other school may call intro to nursing. But if u have been studying for RN nclex u should pass without a doubt.
