  1. I have failed the NCLEX-RN a couple of times and I am actually waiting on results from my most recent attempt. The test stopped at 75. Lots of SATA, Priority, Meds, and 2 Dosage Calc. I have tried Suzanne's plan (Saunders) in the past, Kaplan, and NCSBN online course. I know I have test anxiety, I am near passing in the content areas. I am just wandering if I need to approach nursing in steps. I am currently working as a CNA. If I were to pass the NCLEX-LPN and work as an LPN for awhile would that help in better preparing me for the NCLEX-RN. Right now I am just so frustrated and depressed. I don't know what else to do or how to study differently. Thanks for listening!
  2. Just wandering if anyone can tell me some differences between the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-LPN test. I have failed the NCLEX-RN a couple of times, and I am debating sitting for the LPN test. Is there much of a difference between the two? All I know is that they cost the same. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!!!
  3. I took the NCLEX-RN and there was a system failure in the middle of testing! I got to around question 65 and the computers and lights went out in the entire building. They came back on after a couple of minutes and then we had to wait about 15 minutes for tech support to pull the exams back up. By that time my heart was racing and I had lost all concentration. My test ended at question 85. Has this happened to anyone else out there? Also, since this test is a CAT test (Computer Adaptive Testing), could this effect the scoring of the test? This whole experience has wrecked my nerves!
  4. Hi! Just a warning! Kaplan's guarantee is only for first-time test takers! I took the NCLEX right after graduation, without any studying, and failed. I then took the Kaplan Review Course and failed yet again. I wasn't given any type of refund because it wasn't my first time testing! Their testing strategies help, but they are simply not enough! I personally needed more content review. I suggest using Saunder's Comprehensive Review Book and maybe checking out a Kaplan book for their hints and tips.
  5. It's been awhile since I last tested. I had taken a Kaplan review just before testing. I thought it helped some, but I still failed. I needed more content review, so I started Suzanne's plan. I feel more comfortable now using Saunders, but I still don't know when anybody feels ready to test again. How did you guys know when to test again?
  6. Just a warning! Kaplan's guarantee is for first-time test takers only. Their Q-Bank is good, and the class is helpful if you study best in groups. The class is only testing strategies and you work through each question together. I took the class and it helped, but I feel that the cost just wasn't worth it. I personally need more content review, so I am now using Suzanne's plan. You can find the thread in the NCLEX Discussion Forum. It's a sticky called New Revised First Tip of Suzanne's Plan. I believe both would be beneficial. Just take advantage of the time you have and practice question after question after question! Good Luck!
  7. I rushed to take the NCLEX right after graduation and failed. I then took a Kaplan review class and attempted the NCLEX again. I failed yet again and since it wasn't my first time testing after Kaplan, their guarantee didn't apply and they refused a refund. I did feel that Kaplan helped a little. My scores improved in some content areas on the NCLEX, but Kaplan was just testing strategies. I needed more content review! To me $500 was just too much to pay for strategies alone!
  8. I feel like you have described my situation! I have a part time job right now while studying to take the NCLEX again, but it doesn't get the bills paid and I am relying on my fiance as well. It's a tough situation to be in, but don't give up! It took me a long time to pick up a book to study again without crying or having a panic attack, but with some time it gets better. It helps hearing from others in the same situation. It just proves that we are not alone! Best Wishes!
  9. I took the NCLEX shortly after graduation without studying much and failed. I wouldn't recommend rushing to test! Not only is it expensive to fail, it is a major let down! It can become a major hurdle to overcome, depending on the particular situation you're in and the support system you have. The more you rely on passing, the more stress there is put on you, and the harder it becomes to stay calm and focused (TEST ANXIETY!) I have two pieces of advice to offer: First, don't put any time limits on yourself, and Second, practice question after question after question. I believe you have to get used to how the questions are set up and how to approach them. The questions on the NCLEX were a lot different than the ones I had on tests in Nursing School. The more you practice, the more comfortable and confident you will be! Good luck, I wish you the best!
  10. Hi! Anyone out there working at Columbus Regional Hospital or Schneck Medical Center in Seymour? I'm considering working at one of these places and would like to hear some opinions on the working environment, specifically how new graduates are treated! What's orientation like and how many patients are assigned to a new nurse? (Just typical questions like these!) Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!
  11. Hi! Just stumbled into this site this evening while searching for information on nclex review courses. I graduated with an ASN and worked for a while on a med/surg unit. I was rushed to test by this unit and along with all the other stressors in my life, I failed. Now the stressors in my life have quadrupled and I'm feeling stuck! I can't return to work until I pass the boards and obtain a license. I've tried Kaplan. I think it helped some, but I'm just not confident enough! I'm overwhelmed by the review material! I don't quite know how to approach it! Any suggestions? Any good study tips? Or can anybody recommend other review courses/guides?
