  1. I am going to be starting med/surge as a new grad on 07/30/07 and find that task of managing all of my patients efficiently scarry! Does anyone have some form that they could attach or something that I can use to manage my patients. If anyone is managing their patients on a PDA I am also interested in that. I am off to vacation tomorrow (Alaska cruise, well deserved) and will be back on 07/29/07 so if I dont respond to questions right away I will when I get back. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!
  2. I too am considering Rehab as a new grad. I heard it is alot of spinal injury and CVA, with a little hip replacement thrown in. I am a little concerned that it will be even harder than Med Surg since we will be doing soooo much ADL assistance. I think it will be more rewarding but am worried that I will be overworked and not be able to do the excellent job I want to do. I would love to hear from a recent new grad in rehab. (not for ETOH abuse, LOL)
  3. Considering Northridge myself. I am pretty sure that they start at $27 for new grad RN's. (seems kinda low) Do you know what the raises are like and how often?
  4. Didn't want to post this under NCLEX because most of the people there haven't taken the exam yet. I want to know if anyone who was just a normal student went and took the NCLEX right outta school. Like within a week or two without really studying.
  5. We have the ATI incorporated into our school program. I just took the 3 hour ATI predictor test and it says I have a 91% chance of passing the NCLEX, which I take with a grain of salt because it is not a computer adaptive test and they most likely have not incorporated that it is now harder to pass the NCLEX, since April. I think that the ATI questions are more difficult than Saunder or NCLEX Made Easy, which is a good thing. Talked to ATI about there NCLEX prep package but they couldnt even answer all of my questions. I wanted to know if there is a test to take half way through to check you progress that wasnt the same as the final test and they couldnt answer the question, along with other unprofessional answers I chose to go with Kaplan.
  6. My school has us take the 3 hours ATI Predictor Test just before we graduate. The score I got according to ATI says that I have a 91% chance of passing the NCLEX. That isn't so bad for not studying. I would like to know what percent pass rate people got on ATI and if they passed or failed the NCLEX. I am a little skeptical about this 91% chance of passing the NCLEX, especially since they recently raised the % you need to pass the NCLEX and I doubt ATI has accounted for this and I don't think that the ATI predictor test is CAT (computer adaptive test) so I dont think it is an accurate test. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Regarding the NCLEX being harder. I believe that they did not make the test harder they just raised the number that you need to pass.
  8. If you can get through school and the year training you could work for an insurance company reviewing claims. I believe that would only require sitting. I am having problems different for you and sitting is the worst but maybe it would be ok for you. Just my 2 cents.
  9. It would have been nice to have a nice dinner party and wear street clothes. The person that was in charge of our pinning told us we could wear street clothes or our white uniforms.....and I'm like street clothes, of course....but then....she said "I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU CHOOSE YOUR UNIFORMS!" I thought that was a little rotten. Issues?
  10. I went to MSMC's ADN night and weekend program. It is OK, the school is somewhat disorganized. It is VERY difficult to work full time. I remember waking up on the weekend and thinking "It is 9am and I only have 13 hours to study if I go to bed at 10pm" Regarding the pass rate; it is poor 77 percent recently, I believe, and that is the best it has been for a few years. Never went to another ADN program so it is hard to compare. Seems that the teachers all have 3 other careers and teaching takes a back seat.
  11. Not going. Mine is in May and I believe I am the only person not going to attend. It just seems silly to me. I will probably meet up with some of my fellow students later.
  12. Hi, I am in my final semester of an ADN program and have a group project do in about a week. My portion focuses on previous trends in new grad training. I have already spoke with someone that graduated in 1971. I am now looking for information on new grad training in the first half of the 90's. I understand that RN's were being laid off due to cost cutting at this time and can only think that this would effect new grad training. Any information you can give would be great! Some questions I have are: #1 What year did you graduate and start practicing? #2 How long was your training? #3 What did your training consist of? Preceptor, classroom, very structured etc.
