Okay so im going to be totally open, honest, and put myself out there'
I have failed the Nclex-Rn Exam 4 times and I am on my 5th attempt. I am desperately needing to know if there is anyone else out there who is in my position or has been in my position? I was in the top 5 of my graduating rn class, I study hard throughout all of my failed attempts.. for instance ive saved every stitch of paperwork and books from school. i would read my lpn book, lpn notes, rn book, rn notes and answer questions out of lippincott, saunders, mosby, rea, frye, question books i have looked over the hurst review. and all of my feedback from doing this was well. so when i failed the third time going in for my fourth attempt i spent the $500 bucks to take the kaplan review according to kaplan they claim that when you take the qbank questions and the qtrainer 6 and 7 is to make your goal 60% or as close to 60% as you can get and compare your results to 50%. in order to pass the nclex exam. so I was scoring 60 percent even a little higher. i take it a fourth time i recieved the whole 265 questions. and still failed. ive went back to kaplan and have studied some more and i am planning to spend another 300 to get more qbank questions and make my goal at least in the 70-80% range that maybe im needing to score higher. i dont want to give up on this at all i have got way to much time and money invested in this and its worth it to me to be a registered nurse I so desperately want this! Im just asking if there is anyone out there that has been in this position, is in this position, or knows of someone who was in this position? I need to know if this is still obtainable or is the writing on the wall for me? i feel so sick to my stomach i cant believe its come to this at all. if anyone can help i would be greatful

hi lauren.. i guess i am in the same situation as you. i took my first nclex last august 5 and failed. the only resource i used was saunders for content.. my friends call me a brainiac cus i graduated college with honors and i was considered one of the cream of the crop (i absolutely mastered pathophysiology of the diff body systems back then). i thought saunders was enough to help me pass nclex, totally wrong.. i ended up with 182 questions. when my results came thru mail i got NEAR PASSING STANDARD in all areas except for one BELOW PASSING STANDARD in "safety and infxn control"
i guess i lacked test taking skills back then..and my humble and average-minded friends who bragged to others that i was going to pass ended up being first-time testtakers who passed. i know how all this nclex stuff does to our self esteem. but you see how the experience humbles us? it may sound weird but i actually found it helpful that i did not pass, God has a reason for all of this..he wants us to trust in Him by being grounded with our experiences. keep praying I know that one day we can overcome this.
by the way here's my study resources for my 2nd attempt: saunders 5th edition for content..i'm gonna add in lacharity pda (a lot of retakers recommend this great yet affordable read) and the kaplan qbank (300 dollars for a sure pass......i hope hehe) i'll keep you in my prayers friend:) if you want a study partner you can email me:[email protected]
happy studying,happy nursing.. God bless
i just finished reading your latest update by the way congrats hehehe
Ann, for the nclex 3500 and lacharitys delegation go ahead and google it it should pop up as for kims thread if you type it in the search bar here on allnurses.com should come through. My greatest advice for you is to purchase kaplan qbank questions its $300.00 the $500.00 course is the ultimate but i do know money plays a role so i say amazon has a kaplan 2011-2012 practice book for $20.00 it comes with 180 question diagnostic to let you know where you stand, chapter review questions that breaks down the categories, and a 265 test at the end to tell you if you are ready. Theres also a promo deal of 20 qbank questions free online and it gives you a decision tree on how to think about answering the questions. So its something you can do i recommend this highly.
