Nclex review tips/information: Read this

Hey you guys,

I am a 31 year old married mother of a 9 year old from Virginia. I graduated with my BSN on 5/6/2016, recieved my ATT 5/12/2016 and I am signed up to take the NCLEX 5/25/2016.

Just so you other Mamas/Wives/Students out there know it is HARD BUT YOU CAN AND WILL FINISH NURSING SCHOOL.

My school emphasized how hard it is and put the FEAR OF GOD in us regarding the dreaded NCLEX. So naturally I am a complete HOT MESS in regards to anxiety. It is out the roof and there is a constant looming feeling hanging over my head..but I am trying to "just keep swimming" and doing my best to stay positive. But.. you guys know how that works..

My school has a mandatory Kaplan class (waste of time, all she did was read questions with rationales). The next week I took the Hurst Live Review and completed all of the extra videos last week. I have been studying ever since and I am using UWORLD, Kaplan Question Bank and Trainers, NCLEX Mastery and Hurst Questions.

Okay now to the point of this post....I just wanted to share with you guys an awesome resource. I always get on here (obsessively at times) and read all of the encouragement and tips and tricks so I thought I would share one of my own.

I have created a Quizlet "class" with all of the NCLEX information you could possibly need (Lab values, mnemonics, key points, etc...) It is free to sign up and all you have to do is click the link below and request to join. I have put all of the information I have found throughout others postings on allnurses into study sets of online flashcards and thought I would share them with the oodles of other stressed out people on here!

Also if anyone else is using stuff and wants to know percentages (b/c I am always googling to read how other people are doing) PLEASE SHARE YOURS TOO AND IF YOU HAVE TAKEN NCLEX AND PASSED OR NOT, I would love to chat about what we like/don't like about different study resources.

My current stats:

UWORLD percentage = 63% 84th percentile.

Hurst Question Trainers so far = 79/125 questions and 82/125 questions

Nclex Mastery: 62% with less than half done

Kaplan QBank percentage: I have only done one set with 75 questions @ 56% (I hate Kaplan)

Kaplan Diagnostic Test (taken before graduation)= 60%

Kaplan RN Readiness (taken one week after graduation before ANY studying)= 64.4%

How are these scores compared to ya'lls?

If you have any other useful tips and tricks please share them. If you have taken the NCLEX recently....PLEASE let us overly anxious basket cases know how it was! You remember what it was like before you took it

Also please feel free to ask me ANY QUESTIONS you may have. I will check this post OFTEN since my entire life solely consists of studying right now.

I will also update if I pass or not and some helpful tips after I take the exam! Plus final scores on all of the above before going to take the NCLEX.

Your UWORLD percentage is super high, i finished the whole bank with 54 percent. Our nclex mastery percentage is pretty much the same though. Your on the right track, keep it up!

Thank you! How did you do on the exam? I have found I really dislike NCLEX Mastery... I think because I learn more from UWORLD with the rationales being so awesome!

The exam was shocking because it was totally different from UWORLD. The questions were so basic and i think i over thought alot of them, i still passed though. Even NCLEX mastery question were more detailed than the actual thing.

Yes UWORLD rationles are great! Its a content review by it self to be honest, making it the most superior bank out there.

OP, you may hate kaplan, but the nclex is pretty much just another qbank in look, feel & content.

I think I hate it so much because our school is obsessed with it. We did Kaplan tests multiple times every semester.

I sent a request to join your Quizlet NCLEX study page. I am graduating in 7 days, although I am finished with all my clinicals/tests. I'm just waiting for the event. I'm doing both Kaplan and Hurst. I've been doing the Kaplan review videos. I take Hurst this coming week. I have to pass on my first try due to other obligations (BSN/Intern program) but I have not yet received my ATT to test. I'm excited and scared to death to take the NCLEX. I'm a good student but not the best test taker although I've done fairly well. I've gotten better each semester at testing. Please update your post after you test! I appreciate the Quizlet because I can use any help available.
