NCLEX PN after 5th time don't give up

Published

There was a discussion that someone posted about giving up at the 5th time of not passing, many people are so negative about it saying be true to yourself that you shouldn't be a nurse. I believe those people are ignorant, many people have problems with testing. A test shouldn't identify how good of a nurse a person may be. Many people pass the test at their first time and are horrible nurses they're just in it for the money. They are not passionate or have any sensitivity towards patients. A nurse should care for others have empathy, dedication, be sensitive, care, respect, be passionate to care for others no matter what. Yes of course you should have knowledge as well however just because someone doesn't pass the test first try or after a couple times , it doesn't mean that they don't know anything. Everyone is different and everyone handles things differently. I knew I wanted to be a nurse I have it in me I am good no actually great at what I do not only I know it others do as well and compliment. If your in this situation NEVER give up on becoming a nurse if that's what you really want continue forward with it. Don't let peoples comments bring you down :)

Hi Flowervilet15! Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. Right now, it has been 3 years since my graduation and I have failed it 2x and I know its because I didnt study for it well enough but failing the test 2x has discouraged me to take it again. I have been studying since then but till now I am still scared to take it and I feel like no matter how much I study , I feel like I wont pass.

I found this to be about as ignorant and insulting toward good students and good test-takers as you apparently find those who believe you haven't got what it takes if it took you five tries.

I don't believe you (or anyone else who has yet to work one day as a nurse) are the proper judge of anyone's quality of nursing, whether they are in it for the money or any other reason.

You don't want to be judged for your inability to pass the exam in less than five tries, yet you are judging those who DID pass on their first attempt as 'less than' yourself, because you believe their motives may be 'less than' yours.

Why is your judgement of them better than their judgment of you? Something about glass houses comes to mind....?

I agree with the above post, if you want to give words of encouragement don't do it trying to bring others down or by giving horrible examples to which you have no evidence of. Not passing NCLEX is a tangible fact. I appreciate you trying to encourage others but you just kind of became the person that you were complaining about. Good luck with everything!!!!

I just took my nclex pn Saturday and it was my 4th time. I found out this morning I PASSED!! Do NOT give up! You graduated nursing school you CAN pass Nclex! I used kaplan to study for a little over a month.

Specializes in M/S, LTC, Corrections, PDN & drug rehab.

I could understand the first time having test anxiety but the third, fourth & fifth... No.

And it is documented that the more times someone takes the NCLEX the less likely they are to pass.

I totally agree with your post. NEVER give up no matter what anyone on here has to say. If you want it go for it but just keep striving to be better than the next. You would think you are coming here to get words of encouragement but clearly that's not always the case. Glad to see you kept going for what you wanted. Congratulations to you!!

Hi! Krstella87, I am taking my NCLEX soon for thr 4th time and would really appreciate if you could tell me how you prepared for it.

May I ask what you did to prepare, taking and passing it on the 4th try? I am in the same boat and would like to see if there are any options that I have yet to try.

@p.graham09 hi I took my nclex last Oct for the 4th time and passed!! Praise God! I want to share with you what I did.

After taking the nclex the 3rd time and failed I decided to give myself a break. I didnot study for almost 2 months when I felt that I was ready to take the nclex again. I set my mind that it was going to be my last time and that I WILL PASS.

I used kaplan, mosby, and exam cram. I also asked for help from my teacher. Know your strengths when studying. Are you good in studying alone or with a group? I personally think that studying with a group helped me ALOT!! Take your time when studying. I read here that most people studied for a month or a little over a month. I studied for almost 4 months but that's bcos I had to work and I get really tired and lazy studying hahaha the first month of studying was basically just a warm up.

A few weeks before my test I sat down and evaluate myself. I timed myself in doing 205 questions for 5 hours or less(basically nclex style). I think this prepared me to take my nclex

also a week before my exam I stopped studying and the reason being was my brain was just so tired from studying. I felt like I cant take anymore info. So I decided to stop studying and just TAKE IT!!

On the day of the exam, I had a good breakfast and was VERY CONFIDENT THAT I WILL PASS THE TEST.

Also a piece of advice, everyday tell yourself that YOU WILL PASS YOUR NCLEX. Dont let other people pull u down. Have faith in yourself and always remember if they can do it, you can also do it. I wish u all the best and good luck on your nclex! í ½í¸€

Congrats to those of you who have passed the Nclex for the first, second, third, fourth, or fifth time. You all worked hard to passed the Nclex, I will be taking it for the fourth time also I believe in myself!!!, for the ones who got upset at the post don't she wasn't talking about you right!! Lets all support one another!!!!!
