Hey everyone,
I wanted to create an account and share my experience just because coming to all nurses and reading everyone’s thoughts after the NCLEX really helped calmed my nerves and made me realize I wasn’t alone.
I KNEW I FAILED. End of story, it was over for me. The NCLEX made me feel incompetent! It took my 2 hours to get to question 50! I took a break, splashed water on my face and told myself I needed to speed it up because the way I felt I was going to need all the questions I could get. Once it shut off at 85 I knew the test decided I failed. The longest 48 hours of my life went by and come to find out I PASSED!! I couldn’t believe it. But yes all my questions were select all’s, there were meds I never heard of, and there was a tone of reinforcing teaching. I drove myself insane until I started reading about the Pearson Vue trick. I was worried since I took my exam @8am on a Saturday that maybe it wouldn’t work being the weekend or that they changed it being the new year. I am here to say the PVT WORKS! I went to re schedule and pay (putting in all correct cc except a wrong expiration!) and an error popped up saying the records show I’ve recently scheduled this exam and another could not be scheduled at that time. That is what they said was the “good pop up”. I also waited until that night to try it.
So for clarity I took my exam January 2020 and the PVT worked for me!
Good luck to everyone!!
Hi Guys!!
I promised myself I'd comment after passing my NCLEX, because I frequently came to this site for encouragement from others and it really helped me! My NCLEX journey was not an easy road. I FAILED twice. All I used was UWORLD and Hurst review, but mostly UWORLD as that's what my fellow classmates said they mainly used to pass their exam.
My first attempt: I wrote the exam for the first time on October 4, 2019. I did ALL 265 questions. One of the most mentally draining things I have done. I knew going in to this exam I wasn't ready, but had family that would tell me otherwise. I should have listened to my gut feeling. I feel like if I had a little more time to study I could have got it. I was borderline for all topics. Biggest suggestion here if you end up going passed 75 questions is TAKE YOUR BREAKS. I didn't and I regret it so much. (Ranked in UWORLD in the 42 percentile)
Second attempt: I wrote the NCLEX for the second time on December 20, 2019. I took some time for myself after the first, and maybe it wasn't the best idea for me to take 3-4 weeks off, but we live and learn. I studied UWORLD again and did another 2 thousand practice questions. The exam shut off at 243 questions. I had mixed emotions and knew I probably failed again. This exam was much harder than my first. (Ranked in UWORLD in the 52nd percentile)
Third Attempt: I wrote for the third time on February 26, 2020. I had to purchase UWORLD again, and did all of the questions again. I was ranked in the 80th percentile and took the two practice exams with both ranking me in the 80th percentile and 85th percentile with a high chance of passing. I felt more confident this time going in and truly tried to think positive...I think that's such an important thing for writing this exam. I scheduled the exam for in the afternoon (1:30pm) instead of 8:00am. Such a positive difference, since you're so much more rested. When my first two exams were early in the morning I woke up every single hour of the night and halfway through my exam I was utterly exhausted. Could barely keep my eyes opened.
UWORLD works if you use it correctly and read all rationales!! A lot of my questions were similar!
Good luck everyone and believe in yourself!
