NCLEX-PN Pearson Vue Trick

Published

I just took the NCLEX-PN (October 28,2013) at 8am and took all 205-questions with an hour to spare. I was confident that I would pass in one try and felt like I failed when I took all 205-questions...A classmate of mine took the exam before me and he also took all 205-questions and advised me to try the Pearson Vue Trick (PVT). He told me that he tried it and wasn't able to re-register (which is a sign that he passed, which he did). He told me that if I was unable to re-register for the exam, it is a clear sign that I passed. As soon as I got home, I tried the PVT and was taken to the Credit Card (cc) screen, which is a sign that I have failed...I am now beating myself up and lost all hope that this career isn't for me when I have sacrificed so much and put my heart and soul into it...My question is, has anyone gotten to the cc screen and still passed the exam?? Please help calm my nerves and restore faith that this is the career for me...

Cc page means u fail' is that right

In theory but it's not official

what exaclty is PVT?

Pearson Vue Trick. Type the words into the Search box in the upper right hand corner of this website and you can read about a thousand threads on the topic.

Hi. I took the test 3x I did not pass, I read the Saunders book and practice question everyday. I'm going to take it again next month any advise???

True or false the new PVT will send u to CC page pass or fail? If you go through all the way to submit and pay $200 then you fail. But if you enter CC and submit getting page which says something like cannot proceed you have an exam scheduled means you pass? Can someone clarify this for me please thank you. I'm waiting for my results in California for nclex pn but I haven't had the guts to do PVT

In late August, Pearson Vue updated its registration software, changing what was/is known as the "Pearson Vue Trick". It wasn't reliable then, it's less reliable now, but if you have $200 you don't mind throwing out and want to play the game, here's how:

EVERYONE who attempts to register for another exam once they have completed taking the NCLEX will be directed to the credit card payment page. Everyone. It's FAR too easy to say "if you pay, you must have failed, if you don't, you must have passed". This is VERY wrong.

The NCLEX is scored TWICE during a 24-hour period. On the first scoring, you might have been close to the pass/fail line, but the computer deemed you a 'fail' (on the FIRST scoring). If that happens, and you are sitting there happily punching in your credit card number and find that your payment is accepted, you can now go ahead and register, you will be crushed: YOU FAILED! But (and it's a BIG 'but') if your second scoring has you as a 'pass' (some time during the rest of the 24-hour period, NO ONE KNOWS WHEN) you will have paid $200 for nothing. It is NOT refundable, please don't ask, you won't get anywhere. So not only will you have thought you failed, and probably told everyone you were now studying again, etc etc etc), but you will have wasted time and money before ultimately finding out via the mail that you passed.

Now you can also reverse the situation.

You happily put in your credit card number, find that you cannot get the funds accepted, it says "another registration cannot be made at this time" or something similar, and you think "YAY, I PASSED!!" Except that like in the first scenario, if your exam has only been scored ONCE at that point, and you were close to the line (many people are), you might to so thrilled to be telling everyone you passed that you won't find out you actually failed until you get the notice in the mail. And now you're calling back the employer to turn down the job you just accepted, having to tell them that you are not yet a nurse. Embarrassing, painful, and unnecessary.

In the best of situations, the first scoring and the second scoring are the SAME, and the person who thinks they passed did, or thinks they failed did, and that's that. How much do you feel like gambling on your emotions AND your cash, AND your reputation (after all, how humiliating is it to tell everyone you know you are now a nurse....only to have to tell them oops, turns out you're not?).

So here's the thing. If you are going to play the PVT game, wait AT LEAST 24 hours, and then PROBABLY it's correct. PROBABLY, NOT a guarantee, NOT an official result. A good guess.

The sane thing to do is wait for official results. Base your acceptance of a job, your conversations with your friends and family on a FACT, not a guess.

And GOOD LUCK!! :)

Thank you, I'm going insane waiting but I guess I'm doing the right thing by waiting and not trying PVT. I took nclex pn on oct. 31 here in California so we have to wait a little longer than most states. Shut off at 85, I don't know how to feel now or how I felt after the exam all I know is I tried my best and believed I could all thanks to the man above. I had so many SATA, and I shut off on a SATA. So really all I can do is wait instead of go crazy over a PVT that's not even 100% reliable.

Yep :)

Maybe this will help: approximately 91% of first-time NCLEX-testers pass. IF this is your first time taking the exam....odds are significantly on your side.

And this: stopping at the minimum number of questions (85 for PN) means that you either did very well or very poorly. You either demonstrated competence quickly....or the test knew there was no way you were going to pass on that exam, no matter how many questions you got, and it shut off.

Knowing what kind of student you were, your testing/grades hx, your studying habits, your preparation level for this exam....taking an honest assessment of how you did on the test-prep practice exams.....which of the scenarios I gave is more likely?

The average number of questions for those that pass the NCLEX-PN is around 115. If you were charged and it turns out you passed, you just donated $200 to Pearson Vue

Did you check your BoN website? Does you estate participate in quick results?

No one can tell you if you passed or fail other than quick results or your BoN.

Im in cali so no quick results.im just hearing that if it charged you, that means u failed.i cried so bad.but started thinking that maybe i didnt wait long enough to try the "trick" im so lost..its gonna be a loong 3wks,but already expecting i failed :( if it so happens that i passed..i was thinking of disputing the $200 and having my bank waive it..any thoughts if this will affect me and pearson in the long run?regarding my license or future services?

Have u heard of that happening before? People passed but got charged $200?

Pearson Vue makes it very clear: NO REFUNDS. That's the chance you take doing "the trick".
