Ok, somebody Pleeease help me! I took boards 45 days ago and FAILED with 85 questions. I have no idea what to study or even how to go about studying for boards. I need to pass!!! I bought the Exam Cram book 3rd edition and I dont know if this book will help. Can somebody help me figure out what to do to be successful at my next attempt at this?

Ok relax. Its a CAT test so no one can say what will be on it. Breathe... next... if you go over 85 questions or 100 or 200 or 205 relax your still in the game. Take out stupid questions and your odds increase 25%... you have to have some all around nursing knowledge.. But relax and you should pull thru.

hopefully you'll find the information useful for your next exam
i ended up using the following resources the last month or so for my nclex preparation:
1. saunders 4th edition
2. comprehensive review for the nclex-pn examination (hesi)
3. exam force cd (i believe i downloaded it from here but i can't seem to find the thread)
4. http://www.studyguidezone.com/pdfs/nclexpnteststudyguide.pdf (i read this a few times)
5. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=gsd067o6
6. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=hrwbwtno
all i can say is do lots of questions, i took 4 weeks to prepare, 11 hours per day for the test and increased the questions i did daily from 100-300 questions per day. hopefully, you won't encounter the issue i had which was seeing the same questions over and over again. read the rationales and don't try to memorize it, try to understand it and if that doesn't work... youtube it and see how it works.
don't overwhelm yourself, and go at a comfortable pace. trying to cram everything too quickly or when your brain is fried is redundant, at least for me it was.
and be positive... good luck.

I am a test panicker as well so I completely understand that. My exam stopped at 75 questions and I think I would have run out of time if I would've had to do all 265. I answered every question slowly and as if it were my only question.
You can do this!
Thank you for your encouragement!
I found that taking the Kaplan course was very helpful for strategy. I didn't read through any study book cover to cover although I referenced the 4th edition Saunders book. Sometimes I looked through my school med/surg book for a better explanation. I have those audio CD's from NCSBN (Judy Herman, I think is her name?) and I loved those. I put them on my Ipod and listened while walking the dog or getting ready in the morning, driving in the car, etc...I did see a copy of Exam Cram in the libary a few days before my exam and flipped through it. I liked it and thought it condensed the info down pretty well.
The most helpful thing to me was working question after question and reading ALL rationale, right or wrong. Best thing you can do.
I didn't spend a ton of time on meds and I'm glad I didn't because I only had one med question and I didn't even recognize it.
Did you see the links for the pneumonics for infection control, etc....? Those were very helpful too!
You will get there!!
I didnt see the links and where do you get those cds at? That would really help me.
Well, here is an Amazon link for the Drexel NCLEX audio review. I didn't have time for a more thorough search but pulled this up so you could at least see what it looks like. If they aren't available through Drexel then you might be able to find something on Ebay. Not inexpensive but I found it helpful for studying on the go. That said, I could have made it without because working questions and taking the Kaplan course was what helped me the most.
