Maniilaq Association
I have a phone interview with an HR person and a nurse mgr coming up very soon and I stupidly did not ask if the interview would be more behavioral type questions vs clinical or a mixture of. Obviously, I should focus on both to be prepared but it's my first RN interview ever and I am nervous and unsure of what to expect. Is the phone interview usually more general type questions for the weeding out process? It sort of threw me that a nurse manager would be included which makes me think it could be more of an in depth interview. Also is there a sticky for possible scenario type questions? How do you narrow down what to review for? Does anyone have any advice they could throw my way about interviewing for this facility? Or just advice in general? I would be most appreciative (so nervous!)! Thank you so much!

I sent in all of my transcripts. It's a pain in the behind but I didn't want to risk a delay!

Nclex PN...Fail! I need help.
Well, here is an Amazon link for the Drexel NCLEX audio review. I didn't have time for a more thorough search but pulled this up so you could at least see what it looks like. If they aren't available through Drexel then you might be able to find something on Ebay. Not inexpensive but I found it helpful for studying on the go. That said, I could have made it without because working questions and taking the Kaplan course was what helped me the most. http://www.amazon.com/Nclex-Excel-Audio-Prep-Boards/dp/0977327310

Passed nclex & you can too!
Congrats to ChicRN!! When I took the Kaplan review our instructor didn't recommend watching the content videos unless we needed to refresh on a topic that was unclear to us. I didn't watch any videos instead i wrote down topics that I wanted to review after I finished with the questions I was working on and then looked up the answers in the Saunders book or my med/surg book from school. I rarely used the Kaplan book.

Nclex PN...Fail! I need help.
I found that taking the Kaplan course was very helpful for strategy. I didn't read through any study book cover to cover although I referenced the 4th edition Saunders book. Sometimes I looked through my school med/surg book for a better explanation. I have those audio CD's from NCSBN (Judy Herman, I think is her name?) and I loved those. I put them on my Ipod and listened while walking the dog or getting ready in the morning, driving in the car, etc...I did see a copy of Exam Cram in the libary a few days before my exam and flipped through it. I liked it and thought it condensed the info down pretty well. The most helpful thing to me was working question after question and reading ALL rationale, right or wrong. Best thing you can do. I didn't spend a ton of time on meds and I'm glad I didn't because I only had one med question and I didn't even recognize it. Did you see the links for the pneumonics for infection control, etc....? Those were very helpful too! You will get there!!

Nclex PN...Fail! I need help.
I am a test panicker as well so I completely understand that. My exam stopped at 75 questions and I think I would have run out of time if I would've had to do all 265. I answered every question slowly and as if it were my only question. You can do this!

Is Kaplan Q-Bank worth it? I need help.
I used the 4th edition of Saunders but honestly I didn't use it that much. I looked up things to clarify but did not read it cover to cover. I did like the LaCharity book very much. I think that is a must have :) At the tail end of my studying I saw a copy of the Exam Cram book at the library and I sort of wish I would've had that from the start. It dumbed things down a bit. From what I saw I liked it.

Is Kaplan Q-Bank worth it? I need help.
I am anxiously awaiting the results of my NCLEX exam which I took on 12/08 so keep in mind that I haven't passed...YET. That said....I think the Kaplan course and Qbank is well worth the $$$. I plowed through all the Kaplan question trainers and the Qbank and was bummed when I ran out. I started using the Exam Cram online question bank that I found (from a link on here) and that was good too but I liked the Kaplan questions better. The course really helps with the strategy of how to break down the question. I also dabbled in the Saunders CD and the Lippincott 4000. Going through question after question and reading rationale, right or wrong, was the most helpful to me. Good luck to you!!

NCLEX-RN in CA & Pearson Vue trick?
I am in CA and took the NCLEX on Thursday morning. I checked for the good pop-up on Pearson about 2 hours later and got it. It also said "delivery successful" although I'm not absolutely sure what that means...lol. I have not seen my name on the BRN yet. I cannot believe CA does not participate in the quick results option. Really?! In the same boat as you....FRUSTRATED
