  1. I have a phone interview with an HR person and a nurse mgr coming up very soon and I stupidly did not ask if the interview would be more behavioral type questions vs clinical or a mixture of. Obviously, I should focus on both to be prepared but it's my first RN interview ever and I am nervous and unsure of what to expect. Is the phone interview usually more general type questions for the weeding out process? It sort of threw me that a nurse manager would be included which makes me think it could be more of an in depth interview. Also is there a sticky for possible scenario type questions? How do you narrow down what to review for? Does anyone have any advice they could throw my way about interviewing for this facility? Or just advice in general? I would be most appreciative (so nervous!)! Thank you so much!
  2. I sent in all of my transcripts. It's a pain in the behind but I didn't want to risk a delay!
  3. Well, here is an Amazon link for the Drexel NCLEX audio review. I didn't have time for a more thorough search but pulled this up so you could at least see what it looks like. If they aren't available through Drexel then you might be able to find something on Ebay. Not inexpensive but I found it helpful for studying on the go. That said, I could have made it without because working questions and taking the Kaplan course was what helped me the most. http://www.amazon.com/Nclex-Excel-Audio-Prep-Boards/dp/0977327310
  4. Congrats to ChicRN!! When I took the Kaplan review our instructor didn't recommend watching the content videos unless we needed to refresh on a topic that was unclear to us. I didn't watch any videos instead i wrote down topics that I wanted to review after I finished with the questions I was working on and then looked up the answers in the Saunders book or my med/surg book from school. I rarely used the Kaplan book.
  5. I found that taking the Kaplan course was very helpful for strategy. I didn't read through any study book cover to cover although I referenced the 4th edition Saunders book. Sometimes I looked through my school med/surg book for a better explanation. I have those audio CD's from NCSBN (Judy Herman, I think is her name?) and I loved those. I put them on my Ipod and listened while walking the dog or getting ready in the morning, driving in the car, etc...I did see a copy of Exam Cram in the libary a few days before my exam and flipped through it. I liked it and thought it condensed the info down pretty well. The most helpful thing to me was working question after question and reading ALL rationale, right or wrong. Best thing you can do. I didn't spend a ton of time on meds and I'm glad I didn't because I only had one med question and I didn't even recognize it. Did you see the links for the pneumonics for infection control, etc....? Those were very helpful too! You will get there!!
  6. Have you checked the CA BON to see if you name is up? What day did you take it?
  7. I am a test panicker as well so I completely understand that. My exam stopped at 75 questions and I think I would have run out of time if I would've had to do all 265. I answered every question slowly and as if it were my only question. You can do this!
  8. Took the NCLEX-RN on 12/08 and my name appeared on the CA BRN this morning! Woot! :) 75 questions and I got the OLD "good pop-up." It worked!
  9. I used the 4th edition of Saunders but honestly I didn't use it that much. I looked up things to clarify but did not read it cover to cover. I did like the LaCharity book very much. I think that is a must have :) At the tail end of my studying I saw a copy of the Exam Cram book at the library and I sort of wish I would've had that from the start. It dumbed things down a bit. From what I saw I liked it.
  10. Congratulations everyone! I took my exam on 12/08, got the OLD good pop-up and my name appeared on the CA BRN this morning :)
  11. CONGRATULATIONS!! My name also popped up on the CA BRN this morning! I am so relieved and excited :) WOOT! :)
  12. I am anxiously awaiting the results of my NCLEX exam which I took on 12/08 so keep in mind that I haven't passed...YET. That said....I think the Kaplan course and Qbank is well worth the $$$. I plowed through all the Kaplan question trainers and the Qbank and was bummed when I ran out. I started using the Exam Cram online question bank that I found (from a link on here) and that was good too but I liked the Kaplan questions better. The course really helps with the strategy of how to break down the question. I also dabbled in the Saunders CD and the Lippincott 4000. Going through question after question and reading rationale, right or wrong, was the most helpful to me. Good luck to you!!
  13. I feel the same way! Not nearly as wound up as I was when I left the test center but can't figure out what to do with myself....should I continue to study? or what? "Adrift" is a good word for this. lol... Praying for good news for us all :)
  14. I am in CA and took the NCLEX on Thursday morning. I checked for the good pop-up on Pearson about 2 hours later and got it. It also said "delivery successful" although I'm not absolutely sure what that means...lol. I have not seen my name on the BRN yet. I cannot believe CA does not participate in the quick results option. Really?! In the same boat as you....FRUSTRATED
  15. I think I have seen recent posts where some were taken straight to the CC page (this month) but I can't remember where i saw it....I've done so much searching for the answer to this that I can't remember where I've been. lol... Dang, I hope they didn't decide to change things NOW! Ugh.
  16. Well, misery does love company! LOL! Kidding. This waiting is the WORST...I'm starting to settle down a bit and just breathe. I obsessively checked the computer Thursday and Friday. I see that the CA BON only updates Mon-Fri so it doesn't do me any good to check it over the weekend. lol.... From what others are saying it DOES sound like our "old good popup" is reliable but until I see my name listed I won't be able to celebrate. Drats. Lord knows I hope that I don't have to retake it and I hope you get good news too SOON so please let me know !! Congrats to you!!
  17. ok, MUCH better....lol. I'm in Cali too and it sounds like from what I have read that they can be slow.....? Don't panic yet :)
  18. Yes, I keep seeing that the latest group who have taken the exam are getting the good old pop up so that is a bit more reassuring. There is just nothing like this angst...lol. I'm glad you didn't have to wait toooo long even though I'm sure those 2 days were long enough! Are you in California by chance? Again, CONGRATS to you!! Be proud! :)
  19. October 5th? That's over 2 months...or did you mean December 5th? You should have received some written notification if it's been 2 months. I don't know what that would mean but I would be calling if it's been that long. Fingers crossed for you :)
  20. Congratulations!! Do you mind if I ask when you took your exam and where? I'm obsessing myself. I got the same pop up message as you did so this makes me a bit more hopeful!
  21. Thank you for taking the time for answering my post especially when you are feeling so down about your own journey at the moment. I really appreciate that! I do hope it's the "good" pop-up but like everyone else I won't feel relief until I see my name on the BON! The waiting is crazy making!
  22. I hope you won't give up! As the other member suggested if you haven't tried Kaplan then think about it because it really is very good for strategies and how to break down the question. I know it's expensive but I think well worth it. The LaCharity book is also a must have and can be ordered through Amazon. Do you spend time on answering questions everyday? That was very helpful for me. I just took my exam yesterday and of course do not know the outcome yet but if i have to take it again I know what I need to work on. Hang in there!!
  23. I took the NCLEX this morning and finished at 11:00 a.m....I've tried the PVT and although it says "delivery successful" it gives me the pop up that I'm unsure about. It says " Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another reg cannot be made at this time." I'm in Cali The waiting is more torturous than I anticipated. Does this seem like a "good" pop-up or just simply that I'm still waiting.....? Thank you
  24. Well, I did email the BRN yesterday...not really expecting a reply BUT they did send a reply and said that if they receive envelopes that are sealed they 'should' be able to accept them. By that time I had already put the wheels in motion to have them sent from the institutions. The word 'should' isn't very reassuring though...lol
  25. Good news about the pop-up but there is nothing like the official posting to let you breathe that sigh of relief. The waiting must be brutal! Hoping that your results are posted very soooooon! :)
