NCLEX-PN EXAM 'aka' most important exam of my LIFE is in 8, yes 8 days.

This will be my second time taking this cruel exam but i can honestly say that I didn't give it my all the first time. After I found out my friend had taken it about a month before me and passed with barely studying, I figured I could too. I studied very little out of Saunders CD. I also studied the LaCharity book and finished it. But that's about it. I did the pearsonvue trick come to find out I had failed. I was really down on myself and yes of course cried. Doesn't help when my friend and I work together and everyone knows I had failed but she had passed. That's not only embarrassing, but depressing. After a few weeks I had gotten my results back in the mail and it said that I was "near passing" on all of the categories, except pharmacology was "below" ...which was no surprise in my eyes since I knew I was very weak in pharm and didn't prepare myself for it. But since I had 'near passing' on almost all of the categories I think I will give some credit to LaCharity because I honestly thought every one would be BELOW. That kinda brought my spirits back up...at least it didn't say below passing on everything like i had figured it would. I took it in november. Waited til all of the holiday maddness was over, and started studying again with a different approach for the new year...hopefully making it a good one.

I first bought the book called "Exam Cram". Read the book first, taking notes as I was reading. Then I did the cd questions, and took notes again on every question. After that, I went through the notes I had made, turning them into notecards. For example: I would write Hyperthyroidism on one side, and S/S: on the other. NG tubes on one side, information about it on the other, etc. I had about 250 or so notecards. It took some time but I figured this was the best way to REALLY understand the content instead of answering questions and reading the rationale, when a few days later I would not remember and forget. I did the same thing with medications, esp learned the endings. I went back and answered the questions on exam cram again..and answered everything on that CD. I also used LaCharity because I know it's a great book to really help with priority questions. I did the same thing, writing down every rationale i didn't understand and put it in my notebook for future reference. I hope this strategy will help me. Can't say that I didn't give it my all this time because I know I did! I also have been praying!!! Lets hope this will be it. Prayers:heartbeat:redbeathe:heartbeat

I am also starting to read "random fact throwing" on this site, and yes I feel like my studying is helping because alot of what is mentioned on there i know ;) ...and there is no way i would have known that the first time.

I just took the NCLEX PN last week and after 85 questions, whew...I got the good popup....It sounds like you have done everything that you need to do to pass this time around. I used Exam Cram and I loaded the CD and did ALL OF THE QUESTIONS and read all of the rationales. I learned everything on the exam cram cram pages ..lab values, TORCH, RACE, everything on those cheat sheets.

I glanced through La Charity. I did the entire Kaplan test bank and rationales ..

(which took forever but was great practice.) I prayed and I gave it 100%.

I know if you have done everything in your power to learn the material and the exam cram strategies that you will prevail this time. Eat a good breakfast. Don't

drink too much water, coffee...wear enough layers of clothing to be comfortable

if it is too warm or too cold....Wishing you the best :)

Good luck!! You can do it :)
