does anyone have any idea why the amount of people it shows from pace that took the nclex is so small?
They list two for Pace: Pace University New York and Pace University Pleasantville. The nursing program is at the Pleasantville campus (96 out of 109 first timers passed in 2013).
The nursing program is at both campuses... unless they are bunching them all under Pleasantville, but what would the 6 refer to? I am most likely going to Pace (nyc) so I may call and inquire... want to make sure it wasn't only 6 students from their ny program who took the nclex!
I am trying to figure out why the numbers are so low for 2013 for all the schools
From Pace's website:
3. Where are nursing classes for the RN4 program held?
All nursing courses required for the RN4 major are offered on the Pleasantville campus only. The required University Core Curriculum courses may be taken on either the Pleasantville or New York City campus; however, students often find it easier to schedule their days on one campus or the other. It is NOT recommended that students try to schedule courses on two different campuses on the same day.
1. What exactly is the “ABSN Program”?
The ABSN is a specially designed, accelerated curriculum for non-nurse college graduates (U.S. Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent) who wish to study nursing in a first professional degree program (BSN). The Lienhard School of Nursing has long been a leader in second degree education for non-nursing college graduates, and has offered an accelerated nursing program in Pleasantville since 1984. Acceleration is possible for the BSN by giving recognition to previous baccalaureate education and by recognizing that the college graduate is an able learner by virtue of previous educational and life experiences. The ABSN is available on both the Pleasantville and New York City campuses. The ABSN begins every September for New York City students and every January for Pleasantville students. Admission is highly competitive and class size is limited.

From this, we see that for the regular 4 year undergrad program (the RN4 program), the nursing courses are only on the Pleasantville campus. For the accelerated program, the nursing classes are offered on both the New York City and the Pleasantville campuses, and have different start dates (every Fall for NYC and every Spring for Pleasantville). From this, I assume that the 6 in the NYC listing are in the accelerated program (since the regular undergrad program is not offered in NYC), and only some of those in the accelerated program would be counted, since the rest would be in the Pleasantville program.
But yes, if you call them, I'm sure they'd tell you exactly what is going on.

OMG!
CSI - 70.0% (98/140)
Saint Paul's Queens - 58.6% ( 85/145)
Saint Paul's Staten Island - 44.7% ( 92/206)
Swedish Institute - 46.2% ( 6/13)
NYU - 83.1% (360/433)
Hunter-Bellevue - 84.7% (117/139)
And the list goes with many ADN and BSN programs showing >85% pass rates for 2013 with a good handful >60%.
In Spring of 2013 the passing standard for the NCLEX was increased. This obviously means the exam would be a bit more difficult for some graduate nurses. Those taking the exam after the changes would have entered nursing programs two or more years prior, so there is a risk they were not as well prepared as they should.
Many nursing programs in NY have changed in ways large and small their entry and retention requirements recently, so we shall have to see how the numbers pan out in future.
Keep in mind also every dean/person who runs a nursing program receives feedback on how their school's graduates fared IIRC. You can be sure there is some number crunching, studies and so forth in response to low passing rate numbers. Well there should be anyway because as a consequence of a prolonged slump is the suspension if not outright loss of various accreditation.

thanks.. yes, I am referring to only the ABSN program at Pace's NYC campus. I know that around 60+ students start each fall at the NYC campus for the ABSN program so definitely wondering why the # of people who took the nclex from NYC was so small! going to call and check it out today.
