NCLEX in on Oct 10th

Published

Hi everybody i'm getting ready to take the NCLEX and i'm not gonna lie i'm scared to death about it. I recently taken the KAPLAN review and the following are my scores (45% of Qbanks completed and averaging about 65-70%; 59%= diagnostics, 61%= Q1, 55%= Q2, 50%= Q3, 49%= Q4, 61%= Q5, 58%= Q6 and 62%= Q7 and readiness= 62%) I know these scores are really low and haven't really been able to hit anything higher than 60's in my Qtrainers. Anyone who took Kaplan before taking the boards and passed the NCLEX have similar grades to mine?

Hi there! Just want to share my nclex experience to you, hope this helps a lil bit. I took my exam last Oct.8,2013 and some questions are really quite fresh in my mind. The computer shut down to around 130 questions, i got more than 20 SATA's, 2 calculations, 1 drag and drop and a hell lots of medications as well as priority questions.

Mostly, maybe around 30% of the questions pertains to INFECTION CONTROL. study which ones are airborne, droplet and Contact prec, keep in mind as well what kind of PPE are used in each cases, these questions are quite tricky. As for medications, study for LOPID, CLONIDINE, ATROVENT, BETA1 Agonist, IMITREX, BetaBlockers and Ace inhibitors. I think nlcex loves this meds so much. :) Prioritization is more on cohorting and delegation to new nurses. I remember my drag and drop is about placing bedpan,so keep those in mind too... :)

If ur wondering if i passed the exam, i still dont know yet.. LOL! checked on PVT and had a good pop up, so does my hopes up!

Goodluck and Pray not for easy questions, but for questions you know you can answer confidently. ohh btw, MY kaplan Scores are quite close to yours, average of 55-60's! hahaha! so keep the hopes high!

It's almost time for you. I know you will do great. Stay calm-breath!! Don't forget :)

Talk to you after your exam!

Don't put much stock into the scores. On my ATI, I had a 94% chance of passing on my first try.....well....I FAILED! How?.....anxiety, frustration and not enough sleep! I agree with helpful.....definitely focus on ABC's, Maslow and test taking strategies!

Hey everyone so I did take the exam yesterday. After I left the exam I did not know what to think about that exam. From what I can remember i had about 7-8 SATA, a lot of medication questions, 5 math questions and the remaining delegation and priority questions. An hour and 45 minutes later the exam stopped at 75 questions and was not expecting it at all. After the exam we were going to drive to California from Arizona and I wanted to wait until we get there to do the PVT. Couldn't help myself and decided to attempt the PVT an hour after the exam. The pop up appeared as follows

"Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time".

So i'm hoping and praying the results are accurate.

Oh my god that is amazing!!!!!!! Congratulation for making it through the exam :) congratulations for only 75 questions and congratulatIons for the good pop up! I am so happy for you and hope that it means you have passed!! When will you know for sure?

I am so nervous-have my board exam tomorrow.

D you memorize all different meds? I don't know what to expect.

Thank you!! I found out that I passed today and my license appeared earlier this morning. Yes 75 questions I was not expecting it but I will take it.. Lol you will do great just relax and breath!! I know it easier said than done but make sure you just relax and take a few minutes to calm down before you start answering questions. I did not memorize any medications. Group the medications together and now the suffix and what to expect with the medications after administering. Remember Maslow and ABC's. Assess unless patient is in distress!!! You will do great I will be thinking about you and you have my prayers!! Good luck and keep me posted!!!

Well, here I am, sitting at home with a huge headache , feel like crying... I started my exam this morning at 8am. After 4 hours I couldn't help but pray : "please, please just shut off..i can't anymore" . I had tears in my eyes. I felt like the questions where the same..all hard..all crazy..never learned any of what they where asking.. It was so frustrating. And the computer kept giving me questions..didn't stop. I thought "well, if i get them all wrong then the computer should be shutting off soon..right?" Well, it went all the way to about 230 questions or so..after 5 hours the computer finally shut off. Although relieved to be done, I knew I must have done poorly... I started crying...went home and nursed my baby who had been waiting for that long to get this breakfast :(

I have tried the PVT but it goes all the way to the credit card page.. Although Pearson Vue's page says they are undergoing routine maintenance at 5pm until 10pm , I truly believe I have failed.

So, this is my sad story.

Good luck to all the other soon-to-be-nurses.

Hopefully it went to the cc page because it was under maintenance. Plus I've also heard people passing even though they went straight to the cc page! It's not official until you get that letter in the mail. Keep us posted!!
