NCLEX Math question

Published

I've been doing some practice dosage calculation questions getting ready for my NCLEX next month. Some of the dosage calculation questions for particularly for children are wanting the answers rounded to the hundredths place. I was taught the dimensional analysis approach and not to round until the end in which if the amount is greater than 1 the the answer must be rounded to the tenths place even with children and only round to the hundredths place if the amount is less than 1. We were told by our instructors that syringes greater than 1ml are not calibrated to accurately administer to the hundreth ml. Is this the right way? I would hate to miss a question from not rounding correctly. Thanks

The test will tell you what placement they are looking for in the question. They dont try to "trick" you by having 2 answers both correct depending on the rounding placement sought and not tell you what they are wanting you to compute. Remember to not read more into a question other than the information presented.
