Licenses never transfer, but the fact still remains that CA wants to see the local license. And requirements are normally the same whether you go for initial licensure or not. Their new rule went into effect this past January.

The other issue is that NY is going to take you about 8 months or so to be expected before you will be given permission to sit for the NCLEX exam, it most definitely is not going to happen right away as one needs to get the CVS done thru CGFNS before they will even look at your application.

You do not apply for the NCLEX exam, it is actually impossible to do. You will be applying for licensure as an RN. But with things going the way that they are now, expect more and more states to require the local license; you would be doing yourself a favor now to write the NLE while the information is current to you.

The policy for CA has actually been in effect for sometime, they just started enforcing it January, 2008. Green card holders do not get special waivers on this, you are still a citizen of the Philippines and hold a passport from there. You are still considered a guest in the US.

1. please take the time to do some reading on this site before anything else and i would start with the primer at the top of this page for information that you need to have.

2. ny requires that a cvs done by completed by cgfns before they will even look at your application. this takes on average about 8 months to get done.

3. you are looking at more than a five year wait for a chance at a green card for the us. and we have not seen any hospital employers in ny willing to petition someone unless you actually atttended school there in quite sometime.

4. there is no way to apply directly for the nclex exam as there is no application for that. one only applies for licensure as an rn to the state where they wish to work, meet the requirements for licensure, and then receive permission to test.
