if your applying for licensure in new york you must first have the cvs done by the cgfns which will take months aprroximately 6 to 8 months. then after the cvs is done it will be forwarded to new york bon then thats the time you will send them your application. they will not process your application without cvs. :loveya:

you better start as early as possible you cvs for state of new york since this takes time to complete. then you apply the aplication in state of new york bon later.

With CVS CGFNS do all the running after your documentation you just complete the forms on the CGFNS website and wait

Thanks for the info..So,its of bit important to process my CVS CGFNS first before forwarding my application to new york bon for my nclex elligibility,is that what u mean?? I've already downloaded all the needed forms for the CVS processing,.thanks.. Godbless

I dont know whether this would help, some state boards do their own credentialing service. I applied through the state board of New Mexico and i submitted my transcripts over to them and whatever else necessary. I only paid 50 dollars for them to do that on top of my application. CGFNS cost 260 dollars or so, not sure how much, and they take AGES!!!!!!!!!I learnt my lesson, NEw mexico did mine in about a week and half while i was still waiting for CGFNS , 6-7 months later!! if only!!! anyway i just applied for an endorsement to work in another state once i had my NM license.

The op is going through New York and even when endorsing the foreign nurse has to get CVS done.

NY uses only the CVS done by CGFNS; they do not accept anything else. Nor is the CVS valid for any other state.

Do keep in mind that we are not seeing any hospitals in the NY area willing to petition at this time.

Would highly recommend that you go thru another state for licensure and then endorse to there if the time comes for you. An employer cannot start the petitioning process without the NCLEX-RN being passed so you will be delayed by a considerable amount of time.

If NY is not your planned destination then I wouldn't bother with that state. Better to go to another. If you are lucky to find an employer in NY once you have succeeded with another BON then you can still do CVS and endorse your license as with retrogression there is plenty of time

Follow what Anna has told you to do, very sound advice.

hi, i just found out through this website that i cant sit for the nclex due to changing california's policy that green card holders are not allowed to take the nclex unless they have passed their local board exam. i am not an RN in the philippines, so i cant take nclex here. but my friend just mentioned about taking my nclex in new york and work in california if i passed. is this possible? because for me going back to the philippines to take my local board is hasstle. might as well go to new york, pass nclex and transfer license to california. is this possible. please help me please help me. i dont know what to decide, to go home to philippines and take my local board or go to new york and apply for my nclex? i hope you will reply.

Licenses never transfer, but the fact still remains that CA wants to see the local license. And requirements are normally the same whether you go for initial licensure or not. Their new rule went into effect this past January.

The other issue is that NY is going to take you about 8 months or so to be expected before you will be given permission to sit for the NCLEX exam, it most definitely is not going to happen right away as one needs to get the CVS done thru CGFNS before they will even look at your application.

You do not apply for the NCLEX exam, it is actually impossible to do. You will be applying for licensure as an RN. But with things going the way that they are now, expect more and more states to require the local license; you would be doing yourself a favor now to write the NLE while the information is current to you.

-------------------------------

The policy for CA has actually been in effect for sometime, they just started enforcing it January, 2008. Green card holders do not get special waivers on this, you are still a citizen of the Philippines and hold a passport from there. You are still considered a guest in the US.
