NCLEX HELP!! Cheerleaders Needed

Published

I graduated from an ADN bridge program 16 years ago! I have continued to practice as an LPN because I failed the boards! I have taken them twice since then but only because people kept saying just do it. Now I am ready to do it for myself!! I am totally overwhelmed with it but I have been studying using NCSBN and Saunders, I took an ATI comprehensive test and got 68%. Not so bad but definitely not good enough!! I hope to test by the end of March and am terrified!! I want it sooo bad! All I keep reading about is SATA and priority questions for the boards! I keep praying for concentration, confidence and continued forward momentum!! Need a little support from fellow NCLEX sufferers.

I wish you all the best. I too am taking the NCLEX at the end of March. Just remember that the NCLEX is based on textbook data and not necessarily the real world. You have had many years of experience as an LPN... I'm sure that in those years you've not only seen a lot, you've done a lot as well. Therefore remember answer questions based on the "textbook scope of practice". You may also want to look up the Nurse's Practice Act in your state, so that you are better prepared. You're probably a wiz w/ meds...you definitely have an advantage. The odds are in your favor!

LaCharity is the book for priority. as far as the test goes remember the NCLEX hospital has everything! You have everything at your disposal to preform whatever the question is requesting. If you can afford a review course I took the sylvia rayfield course -- they guarentee their course if you fail your nclex you can retake their review course free. you get 3 books and our course was 3 or 4 days long, it was excellent. What ever you choose you will do great. You already know the basics and this test measures your basic nursing knowledge. I also used NCLEX 3500 for SATA questions - there is a free version available on the web.

Thanks for the info, I'm doing as many SATA Practice questions as I can find!

You definitely need to know content. As a previous poster said, answer by the book and not real life. Practice a little every day. I did a 75 question test every morning then again in the evening. Read the rationales from all the questions, not just the ones you got wrong. If you are weak in an area, review it.

Kaplan has free strategy sessions a couple of times a week. Sign up for them on their website. They give great information and tips about the test. They also have free practice tests online that you need to sign up for as well.

Keep us updated with your progress.

I have been doing Saunders, NCSBN, and ATI! My test is still almost 3 weeks away and I can hardly stand the wait but I'm afraid to reschedule, the day after my test is Good Friday and I'm praying it will be just that for me. I have been getting 65-85% on all of them but am fearing I have just remembered the answers. I am so wanting this, cannot fail this time. What do you all think, am I prepared enough or not?
