NCLEX exam not what I expected (material wise) so bummed!

Published

I killed myself going through Saunders and Hurst, trying to understand and memorize all the content just to have the most random selection of questions.

I just thought it would be a lot more med surg. I got maybe 10, no ECG, no labs, no pediatrics, no mental health, no infection control. I mean what the hell did I just write?!

Anyone else get a similar type of exam with minimal "content" based questions (I got maybe 10 priority and 5 meds). I'm feeling so discouraged I feel like I just guessed my way through that!

I just can't believe that they would tell students via the ncsbn website what content would be on the exam just to be almost none! :arghh:

Welcome to the day after. The NCLEX is not a test to look at your knowledge, your graduation from an accredited school attests to that. The NCLEX is there to see if you're capable of critically thinking about something you don't know.

Everyone feels terrible after their test, but hang in there, I'm sure you did just fine.

I took mine yesterday and feel the same! Everything I was prepared for like common meds, ekgs, dosages, labs, and all of this other stuff I studied so hard for and I felt I got the worst batch of questions imaginable. A lot of people from my class have been passing and I feel like I'm gonna be the one person who fails. I studied so hard and I just feel defeated.

But I thought it was going to be critically thinking about disease processes and nursing interventions. Not "confrontation management" and other random stuff. I mean I know thats part of being a nurse but I really did not think thats what it would be about.
