Used "Nursing Board Busters" book?

I was wondering the same thing also. I saw a sample and it looks good so I'm going to try it. I got a 50% off coupon so...

So the book was delivered today. This is different than any of the other NCLEX books I have as there are no questions. This book seems to be a content study guide. It narrows down important information from each body system along with disease s&s, procedures, common medications & actions, lab norms, etc. I think it would have been great to have throughout school because it may have helped me focus on important information before tests. I will definitely be using it to brush up and refresh myself before I take the NCLEX in June. I think if all this information is straight in my head, the nursing process and critical thinking should follow. *fingers crossed*

I fell for the NCLEX-RN Board Busters book. I do NOT recommend it even at the "discounted" price (I paid about $40 with shipping via NSNA "special" offer) At full price it is a royal rip-off. The book is accurate and focused review, but it is a surface review with much of it is familiar from the internet and other sources (I recognized many illustrations!) The Board Buster book is only 220 pages of material with plenty of "white space" on every page, so it doesn't cover more than the basics in each area of study. It does not contain any practice questions or test strategies, just content overview.

I would strongly recommend Saunders instead for a much more complete review, and included practice. Really, you do want to know this stuff to be a good nurse, not just to sneak past the boards! If you can afford it, I would look into Kaplan's too. Saunders is great for content, Kaplan's helped with prioritizing and test reading techniques. Either beats the $40 I wasted on the Rubin and Rubin "ultimate study guide for conquering the NCLEX" Ha. Just a general review of two years in 200 lightweight pages!
