NCLEX 2017-2018 Suggestions on study materials (U-world, Hurst Review, NCSBN review)?

Hi everyone

Does anyone have any suggestions on study materials (U-world, Hurst Review, NCSBN review)?

I had been using U-world only but did not help me on NCLEX. I see people on allnurses.com are using Saunders but I personally think it's too easy compared to the real NCLEX. I personally do not like Kaplan. What other resource materials do you recommend? I do not know anyone who uses NCSBN review but I am thinking about purchasing their 5 week course. Please help. I need to get a job to pay off my school loans. Million thanks!

Hello my fellow friends on allnurses, please tell me where did you get Prep U Lippincott Passpoint free trial?

I passed my NCLEX last year by really focusing on questions (SATA's especially). I used the NCLEX RN app to do questions daily (before class, during breaks) and Saunders to get a feel for possibly sitting for the entire 265 questions. I had to build up stamina in case I needed to. Don't try and relearn what you already know. Stress and pressure will get you every time. Do some review, 1-2 hrs a day in your weakest areas and tons of questions. It helped me a great deal.

I am done with all the Uworld questions and

reusing the questions again. I read all the rationale but I still feel I am not ready for NCLEX. How to prepare better? I feel that I do need more contents.

Hey there... take it from me. If u don't feel ready DO NOT take your exam just yet. Just like you, I used Uworld and didn't feel ready to take my exam. Instead of rescheduling for a later date, i went on to take the NCLEX. I underestimated that test. I failed at 265 questions. It's hard to pick myself back up again but I'm not a quitter. Please, give yourself some more time. Don't do what i did. I KNEW i wasn't ready but still took that test. Hundreds of dollars down the drain. I am now using Hurst Review and it's amazing. People fail due to one reason: lack of content. Get into your fundamentals of nursing again. I had so many questions on infection control and i simply could not remember much. I really hope u take my advice. I don't want you or anyone to feel the way i feel.. because it's hurts. Best of luck to you.

I used Saunders comprehensive review and the rn mentor app. Good pop up 2 days ago with 85 questions, 20 sata. I did 100 questions each morning and 100 each evening before bed the week prior to taking nclex. I watched a few Picmonic vids on you tube on test taking strategies that were super helpful for me. I had a lot of prioritization, diet, delegation, no peds, a few ob, about 3 or 4 dose calc, about 5 med questions, none of those "put in order" type questions, infection control.... that's all I can think of. Good luck to all with whatever your future has in store for you!

Kaplan, from what everyone says, is an amazing resource that I didn't get the opportunity to utilize. I saw a few Kaplan Practice Trainers on quizlet, but I thought it was too hard at first. I use the following to help me pass on the first attempt! I passed at 93 questions.

What I used:

1. NCSBN (5 weeks)

I felt at lot of New Grads forget/unaware that the NCLEX was written by NCSBN. Why not use an NCLEX review course by the same company who writes the actual exam? Questions on the NCLEX are EXACTLY THE SAME FORMAT as NCSBN's practice questions.

2. uWorld

The layout of uWorld's practice questions is the same as NCLEX. Great for questions on smartphone and table. Their rationales are very detailed and they offer more practices for SATA.

3. LaCharity delegation/priority book

After hearing from collegues and forum posts of "who do you see first?" questions. I gave this book a change. No regrets as more than half of my exam were priority questions. Please buy this book. uWorld and NCSBN had a ton of priority questions in their review. I would recommend to read this first before anything else.

Truthfully, I would spearhead into LaCharity FIRST before attempting any NCLEX test banks

Hurst did not work for me so now I'm trying Saunders, Lacharity and UWorld

BRN is slow in processing my reapplication. I haven't get my ATT yet. I am waiting for it as I have been studying on U World. I plan to purchase ncsbn 5 week course, U world, La Charity. I don't think I have time for Saunders.

Hello! I passed the NCLEX October of last year and only had 10 days to review since I couldn't take more time off from work. I used Uworld exclusively for those 10 days and passed the NCLEX in 75 questions and about an hour of testing. Best of luck to you! You got this!
