As far as taking the NCLEX in another state, take it where ever you want! It's a national test, so as long as it's taken in the US, you'll be fine. Our nursing instructors used to joke with us that if we wanted to take a Hawaiian vacation and take it in Hawaii (our school is in Ohio), that would be fine.

I do believe you can be licensed in as many states as you would like to be, but you do have to apply to each state's board of nursing and pay for licensing fees in each state, which can end up getting kind of expensive. If I were you, I would apply to the Hawaii BON if you plan on working there for the year, and then where ever you decide to go after that, just find out what you have to do to apply for the next states license.

    Good luck with everything!!

I recently moved from California to Texas. I completed my California nursing program on October 14, received my ATT on November 21, took NCLEX on December 28, and received my passing results in the mail on January 9. I received my California license on January 20.

I then mailed my endorsement application, complete with money and fingerprint cards, to the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. I received a temporary Texas license on February 2 while they processed my application, and finally received my permanent Texas license on March 7.
