How did you pass your NCLEX-RN???? PLEASE HELP

Hello everyone,

I desperately want to pass the nclex-rn next time..this will be my 3rd time.

My first time I used only Kaplan (qtrainer 56-61), computer shut down 110questions==Report: 1/2 below passing and 1/2 near passing

My second time I used: Hurst/Kaplan qtrainers (62-72%), some examcram/saunders/lippincott alternate questions/ PDA/ NCSBN 3 WK (50-70%) and ATI went thru all 6hrs which I answered 180q.==Report: ALL near passing and 3 above passing

I feel confident on content thanks to Hurst but I feel that my problem is on my speed on answering questions and strategies...

PLEASE, can you share with me what test strategies did you use so I can finally pass this test next time..Its hard to follow Kaplan decision tree. I really used common sense on this exam more than anything, maybe I need to use some kind of strategy next time so I can answer alot faster..I feel like I was very close on passing..please help me!!

I had 24 SATA, 3-5EKG, many priority/meds, 1 math, 2 hotspots, and 1 sequence order..I feel like the SATA were not as hard I thought it would be, I feel like I got stuck on the last choices on most of them--I think that is where my problem is...

P.S. This time I am planning to ONLY TONS of questions on NCLEX 4000/ SAUNDERS 5TH COMPREHENSIVE YELLOW BOOK CD/ and LIPPINCOTTS 11TH ED Q&A...AM I DOING THE RIGHT THING?..WHAT DID YOU DO TO PASS?...Thank you for sharing!!

I think you need to be more worried about accuracy vs. speed of answering questions. You will be more likely to get the right answer if you take your time and focus on really thinking through the question and what it is asking you.

do not worry about speed. You're "graded" on accuracy vs speed.

After I hit "submit" to get to the next question, I took a deep breath and put my hands in my lap so I was forced to read the question, read the answers and choose the best answer. My focus was to slow down and answer the questions correctly.

In my opinion, the decision tree works fine for the non-passing content questions but it doesn't apply to any application questions. I say use it if you're stuck but it's not a cure-all

ETA: I just did 2 hours of questions every day for 10 days (sometimes more, depending). I took the exa 10 days after graduation which is why it was that amt of time. I did every single Kaplan question plus questions from NCLEX 3500. I didn't use anything else

UPDATE: I passed the nclex-RN on 3/19 with 110 questions..I am finally an RN!!..thank you guys for everything!!

Congrats! What did you do? And how was your exam like

I did close to 5000qs...I made I knew the basics of most diseases..make sure to read EVERY word in the question..I used lippincott/saunders, and Hurst for content. I had 110 questions, 17sata, 3ekgs, 3pics, 2math, and rest were in infection/priority/see first...I practiced questions from Lipp/saunders cd/nclex35oo...Good luck!!!God bless!..Now the hardest part is finding a job...I applied to 8 places..2 so far have interviewed me..waiting for an answer...I am leaving up to God ..I am not worry whatsoever....
