NCLEX in 3 days & I am beyond nervous!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

My original plan was to take the exam today but I didn't feel as if I was ready so I rescheduled it for this Friday. I'm so nervous!! I've been using Kaplan, PDA, and Saunders (a little bit).

My QT scores are:

QT1 56%

QT2 60%

QT3 55%

QT4 54%

QT5 60%

QT6 56%

QT7 59%

QB 57% w/ 71% completed...I plan to do more by the Wednesday.

My PDA scores are waaay better than my Kaplan scores, scoring anywhere from 65-80%.

I don't want to be the person that reschedules every week because I allowed my anxiety to take over and then the content is no longer as fresh. I plan to take the Readiness Test on Wednesday. I've gone over content that I couldn't remember or didn't do well in, using the Saunders book for a brief refresher and practicing their questions. The only thing is that Saunders is sooo much easier. I don't know what to do...I'm so nervous. Any advice, tips, and/or encouragement is greatly appreciated.

I took it yesterday at 2,, wasn't as hard as ATI, in my opinion it compared to Kaplan Prep and Saunders. I got A LOT of teaching and "who would the RN see first". I can honestly say the most confident I felt on any answer choice I made was about 80%. I obviously don't have me results yet but I got the good pop up when trying the pvt. As far as studying goes I used Saunders 99% of thr time and ATI the rest. I felt discouraged because my scores were in the 60's for Saunders, ATI and the one time I did Kaplan Prep (q bank or predictor I think, the free one ). NCLEX is challenging for sure but it's not as bad as its often made out to be (in my opinion anyway). We'll see what my results are tomorrow though !

I had a similar exam today - mostly prioritizing care, teaching and "which would cause the nurse to intervene" questions.

And I agree 100% - ATI was a great prep for the NCLEX. Once I started to see the questions, I thought, "Hmm this is just like ATI!". I think it helped calm my nerves a lot!

I had 0 meds calc, 2 exhibits, 20-30 SATA, majority were priority questions, like 1 or 2 drag & drop & some infection control.

yay! Congrats!!! What number did the test stop on you at? I'm getting nervous!

and do you feel like Kaplan and PDA helped? what would you suggest for the SATA? Sorry for all the questions :)

I don't know lol. It's crazy...I thought by that time that I would get the full 265 questions so I kind of stopped looking at the #. I do know that it was around 150-165ish. Sorry :-/

I'd say that Kaplan AND PDA helped tremendously! In nursing school, I did pretty well with SATA questions because I looked at the answers as true or false. We just didn't have as many in one exam, as I did in the NCLEX. But it definitely helps to practice. I did the Kaplan sample test like 3-4 days before and got 30%. But having that practice helped a lot.

Also, I used PDA when I took the PN boards but I didn't have as many priority and delegation as I did on the NCLEX RN.

Thank you for answering my question! When I take it, I dont care how many questions it gives me as long as I pass lol and dont run out of time. I've been using kaplan and doing Question banks everyday. Did you you focus a lot on content? I feel like I'm reviewing content when I go back and read the rationales. But not sure if thats enough to do.

No problem. I felt as if I was doing the same thing so if I saw that I was weak in a certain area then is review that content in the Saunders book plus whatever end of the chapter questions went along with it. For example, I kept seeing questions about cancer meds and I wasn't doing well with those so I reviewed that chapter in Saunders and completed the questions at the end of the chapter. And it was more like a "scan through" of the chapter, rather than a full blown review.

Now I admit, I didn't review rationales from EVERY QBANK especially if I got tired/drained (majority of them though). But I did review every Qtrainer and the questions from the diagnostic, readiness, and sample tests.
