Hello!1) Those of you who have taken NCLEX-- did you find the questions to be quite like the questions out of your review books? I am studying primarily from Saunders but also am doing questions on my IPOD. I am just wondering if you think they tend to be on a little bit higher of a level than Saunders or if it is about the same.
2)Also, did you get questions from a wide variety of areas? Or, did they tend to test you heavily in one particular area?
I am worried about burns and pediatrics as I feel there is so much to know with these subjects.
I felt like the books I used to study, La Charity: Prioritization, Kaplan, and Nclex 3500 were similar to the questions on the Nclex but the questions I got on the Nclex were very random. I didn't have the Saunders book but I heard it was helpful for studying for the Nclex. Basically, just be able to critically think you're way through topics, like I said I got a wide variety of questions and not many of the were straight forward like they might have been in Nursing school. Hope this helps!
I see you are doing questions on your ipod. Are you doing the ATI mobile app? I thought it was easier than the nclex. Saunders I found to be pretty darn close. Questions seemed to be all over the place on topic areas, but if you just really think about them, you can really narrow it down to one or two answers based on the basics (ABC'S, Labs). I didn't have a ton of peds on mine. I had a ton of infection control and a ton of priority.
Out of all the study guides, Kaplan prepared me the most, just because it gave me an idea of what types of questions I'd be dealing with. Though I think I would have sufficed with the Saunder's book / CD I had. I don't remember, but my test had absolutely NO developmental questions / OB. I couldn't believe it! My worst subjects!
I had a lot of psych, a lot of priority, precautions, meds, delegation.
You never know what you're gonna get, so it's best to just study all.

I did the Hurst review and the Hurst practice questions. I found that review did help me and the question format was very similar.
No matter how much I studied I felt like there was more I could have done to prepare.
The text was a mix of everything. I took it today. I did the PearsonVue trick and got the good pop up so I'm hoping that I passed!
I found Saunders and NCLEX 4000 to be pretty similar to the ones on the NCLEX. I did not find the ATI questions to be similar, but find that they were good for helping me review the content.
My exam had almost a "theme" a lot of questions from one area it seemed. I've heard from other people too that theirs seem to have a "theme" too. I had no calculations, my friend who took it in the same room had 10. It's a weird, random exam. I wouldn't worry too much if you're weak in one area (unless it's all of med-surg) I was really nervous about oncolgoy and neuro, but ended up getting the subjects I was strong in. I honestly felt like I wasn't using that much knowledge about the actual disease process, but more about using my nursing judgment to prioritize. If there was something I didn't know there was usually some other clue in the question or answer that helped me figure it out.
