Nclex Certificate

Hi there!

I passed the NCLEX 4 years ago (2004) but I'm still here in the Philippines because of retrogression. Is there any expiration for NCLEX exam? I don't have a license yet, my agency told me that the only time I will get hold of it is when I get to US. The only proof I have that I passed the exam is the form I downloaded from pearsonvue website. Since I cannot get the real license at the moment, can I apply for a temporary license? If yes, what are the requirements?

Please help.:(

Many thanks!

To my knowledge, there is no "expiration" date on NCLEX pass results. I am not sure about the licensure question. Each state has different laws and regulations related to residence. If you have an idea which state you may choose to practice in you can visit the Board of Nursing for that jurisdiction and get some information. Good luck.

Suspect that you went thru CA for initial licensure. And that you were given a letter that stated that you passed the exam. Am I correct?

What you downloaded from the website of Pearson-Vue is not valid as proof that you passed the exam. Only proof that any BON accepts is what they get from Pearson-Vue initially or when you have the results submitted by the BON or the BRN to a new state.

If you were in fact testing thru CA, then you only have 36 months from when you received that letter, and after that your file is no longer in exsitance. So no results can be verified or used. And if this is the case, then shame on your agency for not telling you what you will need to do.

When in fact did you test, you need to be more specific than just the year, as well as which state; as each has their own requirements.

NCLEX results do not expire per se, but if the application and file are no longer in existance for you, then the exam results are no longer available to anyone.

Actually I went thru New Jersey BON. Also, I didn't get any letter thru mail stating I passed the exam. My agency didn't inform me as well as to whether they did get a letter informing me that I passed the NCLEX (because they are the one who applied for my NCLEX exam).I have no idea if Pearson-Vue mailed some proof to NJ BON that I passed the exam. I was wondering how the system works?

"NCLEX results do not expire per se, but if the application and file are no longer in existance for you, then the exam results are no longer available to anyone." --if I re-apply(or my agency) at NJ BON would the result be available then? I mean it's hard to imagine that nclex results do not expire but would be no longer availabe if the initial application expires.

Please help. Thanks!

If you went thru NJ, suggest that you contact them to see what the status is on your file. NJ is one of the states that does not issue a license number without a SSN#. Your agency applied for licensure for you, there is no application to apply for the NCLEX exam, it just does not exist.

Yes, Pearson-Vue sends the results to the BON, whether passing or did not pass, and then it is up to the state to notify you. I am sure that they did, but since your agency is the one that receives all of the mail for you, then they have the letter as well as the information for what you will need to do.

Since they have not been forthcoming to you with what you need to do, suggest that you contact the NJ BON directly. And hope that this behavior of theirs is not what they are routinely doing for you.

Not good business practice on their part at all.:uhoh3:

I just sent an email to NJ BON to ask about my status. Hope to receive a reply from them soon.

THANK YOU SO MUCH Suzanne4 & KYCNM :)

If it's not too much...I would also like to ask if I need to renew my visa screen certificate (I got it last 2003). I heard it has to be renewed after five years. But I already receive a notice of receit from the National Visa Center. Does this mean I don't have to apply for renewal of my visa screen since my papers are already at NVC?

You are a long way from getting a visa for the US, and the VSC must be current at that time. Your petition has just moved on, but there is still the retrogression. You are going to need to get a new VSC and that also means taking the English exams once again.

Your papers have just gone onto the next office but they can remain there for several years, we are not seeing movement at this time if you just got approval of the I-140. And that is just for the job, it has nothing to do with the DS-230, and that is all of your personal information and until that form is sent out by the US, your file will not move forward.

Thanks so much suzanne for the info. Now i know what i have to do. I really hope that retrogression will be lifted soon. I heard the current Priority date being process is June of 2005.

If you understand how the retrogression works and why it is in existance, you will understand that it is not going to be lifted soon. Impossible for it to be. There is a limited number of visas (green cards)per year issued by the US government, and there is an additional limit placed on the person'c country of birth. There are many more applicants than there are visas per year available, and it is actually only going to get worse, not improve and the number of applicants is increasing every week that do get submitted.

It is not going to be current for all for quite some time. Years.

Hello shaigem1,

I too applied in NJ and did not receive a letter from them since they will not inform you the results if you don't have SSN#.

I found out my results through Pearsonvue's quick results, which I paid for about 6 or 8 USD.

I have been in contact with NJ BON from the very beginning of my application and they told me not to worry since my file would not expire. I also asked them that because of retrogression, it might take 10 years for me to arrive in NJ and they said it would not expire.

I only need to update my information in their file.

But if there response to you is different, please PM me so I would know and contact them as well regarding my application.

Thanks a lot.

There is nothing any different with NJ, there is no license issued without the SSN# being presented to them.

In CA, the file gets destroyed after three years.

Hi tiurichard,

Thanks for the good news. I was really worried that I may have to sit for NCLEX again.

Same thing with me, I only have the copy from Pearsonvue quick result as my proof that I pass the Nclex.

I actually sent an email few days ago to NJ BON. I told them about my predicament and asked them to keep my record in their file. I am still waiting for a reply.

May I know the exact person (and email ad) from NJ BON who's been answering your queries and requests? How do you update your information in their file and how often?

Sure, I'll let you know once I receive a reply from them.

Thanks.
