Hi everyone, I have completed nursing school in India and I am now planning to practice in
California. I am a U.S. citizen and have completed BSC in Nursing from India (Bachelors of
Science) It was a four year program at a University there. I really need help right now, I tried
contacting the board but they are always busy. If I can receive this help I will truly appreciate it. I
need to know what I need to do in order to ptractice here. There is an NCLEX center in India, and
if I take it there will I need to resit for the exam again once I hit the states or will it be better
to take it here in the states? If I plan to take the NCLEX here in India, will I have to send the
documentation to the NCLEX center here or in California? What is really the whole process? Thanks
again for the whole help!!!!!!

Although you can sit the NCLEX in India you have to apply to a state first and be assessed. Based on what information you submit to the BON/BRN will depend on whether the BON/BRN gives you eligibility to sit NCLEX only then can you sort out sitting the NCLEX with the NCLEX center.
DO NOT submit any paperwork to the NCLEX center as they can not do anything with it.

OK. First step you have to do is fill out the application form from California Board of Nursing's website:
Board of Registered Nursing - Licensure by Examination
You're also gonna have to complete the fingerprint card, I'm not sure who does it in India. Possibly the place where you obtain a police clearance.
After you get the assessment, (up to 6 months), CA BON will give you an Authorization to Test - a test permit basically. You need this before you will be able to schedule a date for your NCLEX exam. This ATT has an expiration date also.
Good luck!

Been so long , you asked this question. I am also thinking to go to India for Nursing Degree. Very specific and only 1 question.
1. To sit in NCLEX and become a RN in california, other than 4 years BSN degree from India, do we also need a work experience of year or two , after college or not ?

It's always recommended to obtain your nursing education in the country where you wish to live and practice. Indian universities prepare students to practice nursing to the Indian health authority standards. You risk not receiving sufficient concurrent clinical & theory in all mandated domains or not receiving sufficient credit hours in required co requisite courses as mandated by CABRN regulations. Taking and passing NCLEX-RN is one step in the licensing process you must prove to the CABRN evaluators of IENs that your educational credentials and training meet or exceed the minimum requirements. Work experience is not a substitute. Work experience, especially in a specialized area such as OR, LDRP, critical care, medical/surgical will come into play when seeking employment

Hello there,
I am general physician from Iran with more than 26 years experiences in practice. I live in USA now. I am searching to find a way to get my ASN (associated science in nursing) in INDIA to be able to pass NCLEX boars to be RN and then Nurse practitioner. My problem is that in USA it takes a bout 18 month to get ASN.I will be glad to inform me if there is a way even with less online duration courses (one month).
Thanks
