Nclex! Bad Idea???

Published

hello. i believe this is my second time posting, i hope i'm doing this right. :wink2:

so....i'm studying for the exam and i feel like i'm not reviewing enough. i think i'm learning more by doing questions. i spend less time with a review book. maybe 2-3 hrs with one chapter and the quiz in the end. i tend to get bored then i'll switch to another review book or q&as. i think this is due to my short attention span and boredom from reading. i just don't think i'm studying enough. i feel like i'm going to fail again. i feel dumb when i don't crack a book open everyday. it's hard to study with the holidays as well. :(

do you think its a bad idea to take my time with 75-100 questions so i can answer it all or mostly correctly, enough to be above that passing line consistantly??? and maybe take a break after 40 questions??

i don't think i can sit there too long. i can't even stand doing 100 practice computer questions at home. i also realized the time makes me panic. i'm trying to not let anxiety get to me, i know that doesn't help me at all.

thanks for all your help and advice in advance. i truly appreciate it!! :heartbeat

Just do questions. Skip the review book. You either know it or you don't and you can't memorize everything anyways. JUST DO QUESTIONS. At least 50 per day. I took the NCLEX twice. First time, I tried the review book thing and failed. Second time, I just did practice questions every day.

Ask yourself how badly do I want to pass this test. Review what you are weak in and do questions. Take your time and don't get too alarmed about being fast at first. The more questions you do the faster you will get. I also had a hard time making myself study but then I reminded myself that if I did not pass I would not keep my job. That was my motivation. Good luck.

Always work on the basis that you are going to get asked 265 questions and then it wouldn't be a shock if you go past 75. Stop with the review books and just concentrate on practising questions

Whenever you feel stressed it's good to take a break, even if it's a short break. I will suggest going over the rationales of what you get right and wrong. Keep up the good work.

Like the other posters have said, skip the reveiw books and go with the questions and their rationals. I was the same way. You may want to try The Random Facts Sticky at the top too.

Thank you ALL!!

Should I at least do about 3000-4000 questions before I take th exam? That way I can get use to the type of questions? At times i find myself misreading the questions and second guessing myself.

Does anyone know where I can buy nclex style practice questions (software)? A software thats CAT style as well. Doing books Q&As are just not the same. :o

Hi Melinurse-->how do I look up random sticky notes. Do I just do a search? SOrry, I'm new and I'm not quite sure how to operate this site yet. :typing

thank you thank you..:heartbeat

I used the "Incredibly Easy NCLEX Q/A". It came with a cdrom. I did that every day.

Just concentrate on Q&A and make sure you read the rationale. Random fact throwing thread is what Melinurse is telling you about is a sticky and can be found near the top of the main NCLEX forum (stickies will have the work sticky at the side of the title)
