License and Refresher Course
Its been awhile since I graduated, it's been years due to personal issues. I just got back into the field. So a refresher course would not hurt. She called the AZ board. I'm not sure if its the same standards for Ca. I could never get through the CA BON so I am just assuming my license can not be released til i finish the refresher. So I am just curious, would there be a point for me to check the CA BON site it i passed or not if they can't release my license? Would I just have to wait for the answer in the mail since CA doesn't do quick results?.......I am just preparing myself so I don't freak out if my name never shows up on the site or maybe it just doesnt show at all cause I failed again. Thank you much :heartbeat

Lvn vs rn??
:) Hi!!!!!!!! I tend to get the assignments for LVN and RN confused. Please give me a run down, textbook wise not real world. I'm planning to take my nclex rn in Ca soon. SCARED!! I know LVNs are not allowed to do assessment, eval, unstable patients, discharge, etc. They are not allowed to do narcs, insulin, heparin?? This tends to confuse me since every state is different and I read taht certain states allows CNAs to pass meds. CRAZY! thank you much :heartbeat

Can Aides Pass Meds?
OMG! This is not going to help me with my exam. From what I know, CNAs are not allowed to pass meds or do fingersticks. I did notice at certain facilities, they were allowed to do fingersticks which surprised me. I don't care if certain facilities are doing this to cut down cost, it's just not safe. Is this really approved by the board by certification?? I would call but I would be put on hold forever. :wink2: I really hope this doesn't affect me when I take the test, of what is delegated or assigned to CNAs, LVNs, etc...

Is this worth it??
Are these books worth buying to use for the exam?? 1. Prioritization, delegation and assignment by Linda LaCharity (Mosby)?? I noticed that this book said it is real-world scenario. Does that mean its real world case but text book answer choice right?? We all know we can't pass the exam with real world examples. We have to think textbook. 2. kaplan Nclex-Rn Strategies for the RN exam 2008-2009?? ------>>>> Did any of those books really help you out to pass?? I need a little work with meds, what med book do you recommend for the exam?? Thank you much :heartbeat

Can you Believe THIS???
Not Right! I see situations like that in hospital settings. SOME HCAs, LVNs, RNs etc... do NOT use the textbook techniques once out in the real world. Which is understandable. The short of time or excessive assigned patients usually get in the way of client care. I know when I worked as an assistant, other HCAs used short cuts. I think its okay to do short cuts to manage time but NOT to jeopordize client care/safety.

Really thinking about giving up
I know how you are feeling. There's alot of us in this site who are in the same boat. Don't give up. Do you feel like the questions seem confusing? maybe you need to practice more questions. I think that's what failed me, as well as test anxiety. I'm still learning to relax and pray!!! I know we can pass this test!!!:)

Nclex! Bad Idea???
Thank you ALL!! Should I at least do about 3000-4000 questions before I take th exam? That way I can get use to the type of questions? At times i find myself misreading the questions and second guessing myself. Does anyone know where I can buy nclex style practice questions (software)? A software thats CAT style as well. Doing books Q&As are just not the same. Hi Melinurse-->how do I look up random sticky notes. Do I just do a search? SOrry, I'm new and I'm not quite sure how to operate this site yet. :typing thank you thank you..:heartbeat

Nclex! Bad Idea???
hello. i believe this is my second time posting, i hope i'm doing this right. :wink2: so....i'm studying for the exam and i feel like i'm not reviewing enough. i think i'm learning more by doing questions. i spend less time with a review book. maybe 2-3 hrs with one chapter and the quiz in the end. i tend to get bored then i'll switch to another review book or q&as. i think this is due to my short attention span and boredom from reading. i just don't think i'm studying enough. i feel like i'm going to fail again. i feel dumb when i don't crack a book open everyday. it's hard to study with the holidays as well. do you think its a bad idea to take my time with 75-100 questions so i can answer it all or mostly correctly, enough to be above that passing line consistantly??? and maybe take a break after 40 questions?? i don't think i can sit there too long. i can't even stand doing 100 practice computer questions at home. i also realized the time makes me panic. i'm trying to not let anxiety get to me, i know that doesn't help me at all. thanks for all your help and advice in advance. i truly appreciate it!! :heartbeat
