NCC Fall '13 Applicants

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

Hope everyone's doing well in their studies.

This is the obligatory "Did anyone get a letter or other notification from Nassau regarding their application for fall 13 yet?" post.

The suspense is maddening, I thought someone might have heard something I hadn't.

Have a nice day, and good luck!

My interview is May 21st, 11am. I didn't get the I.D info. Just one sheet of paper.

Oh ok. Did you apply for day or evening?

Found this information on a previous thread.

Congrats on getting in!!

Don't stress the interview too much! THis is exactly what happens:

FIrst you sit in a classroom and they lecture you for about 45 minutes welcoming you to the school and all that stuff. YOu will get a packet that has a list of all the things you need: uniforms, supplies, books etc. Then you will take a basic vocabulary test. DONT PANIC! LOL It is simple words like temperature, allign, and very easy basic words. YOu have to define them then write them in a sentence. It is really not a big deal I think they just want to make sure you all speak and understand english lol no joke.

On the back of the vocabulary test they will ask you to write a paragraph on why you want to be a nurse.

From there you will leave that room and go into another room where you will get a brief interview (If you even want to call it that) The woman will ask you if you have a car (to get to school and to and from clinicals) and she will ask you if you are in the US legally. Then she will read your paragraph on why you want to be a nurse then ask you a question or two about it maybe.

After that you go into another room and you take a quick quiz (If you want to call it that) They ask you two critical thinking question...more like a common sense question. Like..."If you were in this type of scenerio how would you react", or "If a sitation like this occured what would be a good way to resolve it". After that you go into the last room and they look over what classes you have and they advise you on what classes you need to take. At that point they give you a piece on paper with a registration number on it ...they also tell you what hospital you are being assigned to. You need to take that piece of paper to the Registar's office...and that's it - you're in!

That is a pretty close summary of the interview. Its mostly a program overview, you find out what section your in, some academic advisement. Congrats.

Im in the day program.

Thanx Mike. I'm in day program as well.

Thanks for the reply, Liam82. I was curious because your situation seemed similar to mine, as it turned out to be.

Does anyone know what the day student's schedule will look like? I know it's mon-thurs but don't know the exact hours or whether there's time to take other classes simultaneously.

Thanks!

as ncc graduate, they recommend you do not work or take other classes. I took chemistry my first semester and almost failed chemistry. between the nursing classes, clinicals, assignments and studying you have no time.

My interview is May 20 at 9am as well!! Congrats!

Awesome! Congrats!

I would like to know the schedule as well. We will know soon enough though. May is passing by!

Day program schedule is mon to thurs. one clinical day at the hospital every week from 7:00 to 2:30 and the other three days on campus for lecture for couple hours.. Schedule is good if you don't have other classes. I just have the nursing classes to take.

HI Rjb2013,

I actually did apply to a few accelerated programs and was either waitlisted or rejected. I tried. I want to be a nurse and will do what I need to do in order to obtain an RN. I'll get a BSN after a few years of experience, or just get it online.

I applied to LIU and got in, but the tuition was way too much for me. The CUNY programs were extra competitive as well. NCC has a great program and I'm sure I will be trained well!!!

My interview is on May 21st! I'm SO excited! Good luck to everyone!

Congrats on getting accepted :) My interview is on the same day. Hope to see you there. How many pages did you get in the mail? I read somewhere 2 but I only got 1 page with date and time. Does this mean I am accepted into the program?
