NCC Fall '13 Applicants

U.S.A. New York

Hi All,

Hope everyone's doing well in their studies.

This is the obligatory "Did anyone get a letter or other notification from Nassau regarding their application for fall 13 yet?" post.

The suspense is maddening, I thought someone might have heard something I hadn't.

Have a nice day, and good luck!

nothing yet, i'm worried because i have a 3.2 gpa and got 69 on my teas. i heard they don't even consider you if you don't have at least a 3.5 gpa. and i'm a suffolk resident so that takes points off as well. and i took my electives, general psychology, and lifespan classes in california so i guess that also reduces the points. but everything else i took at nassau. i will finish micro this may in which i have an A so far, unfortunately it's too late for them to see my micro grade before making a decision since its a still in progress class.

Hi Marlizd25,

Thanks for the response, I was worried my post had disappeared and no one had seen it.

Officially, as far as I can tell they should only be looking at the grades for the four prereqs: stats anp1, psy and English. If they're looking for all to co reqs like micro, soc, eng102, I'm in trouble.

As far as the teas and gpa go, to my knowledge it all depends on the applicant pool- so you never know what is needed for any given year. In addition, many people who are offered seats will take places at other schools, so spots will open up.

Thanks again for the response, hopefully people will post more when letters finally start arriving.

Cheers, and good luck!

Letters were mailed out Monday April 22, I haven't received mine yet.

I got my letter this afternoon and have been tentatively accepted for September 2013. Didn't think I would get in because my TEAS score wasn't as high as I would have liked. I have an interview May 20th at 9am.

if you dont mind me asking, what was your gpa and teas score and how many credits did you apply with

This might be a weird question. Was there more than one paper inside te envelope or was it just that one piece of paper with your interview date? I'd like to guess my response based on its thickness before even having to open the letter hehe

TEAS score of 80, GPA for the 4 core prerequisites of 3.5

I'm not sure how many credits I have, I already have a bachelors degree in Health Care Administration from St. John's, and have been taking prerequisites for nursing at NCC for about a year, so 135 or so.

As for the envelope, it was thin, two sheets of paper stapled together.

I didnt make it..and it was my second time applying. I feel like im getting so left behind

Sorry to hear it, keep trying though. Take the TEAS again to get a higher score. Not sure if that was the reason they denied you, but a higher score couldn't hurt you next time.

I had a 3.8 Gpa and a 69 on the TEAS. So I think they are looking for a balance.
