Hi, to all. I am new to this forum, and new excelsior college student. I am useing Rue Study Guide. Any information on NC1 test would be appriciated.
I am wanting to test, I have put off testing, have read alot of negative at other
post about how hard to test is. Anyone with information would sure be appreciated. I also have read alot about the fact that I should have purchased EC books. It's too late now, I already signed to buy from Rue. I work in a large
hospital med-surg floor, 12 hour shifts. Thanks Linda
Sorry I didn't pick up on this before. You can always email or PM me (email preferred) if something I post isn't linking up right. Sometimes I just put the link in wrong or something.Hello, I am having trouble logging in the yahoo link, any suggestions.
Try these, which are the only ones I stayed in, out of maybe 10 or 12 groups:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nontradnurses/
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/allnursesstudents/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RNstudentsforum/
AND while you are avoiding the Acadmey of Nursing, you will do well to avoid their yahoo groups. These are disguised as regular, normal, nursing student groups, but they are run by Rob Butner, who is the genius behind the A of N. He will send you an Academy of Nursing ad as soon as you join, moderates the posts (good luck getting a complaint posted!), and the whole thing is a massive advertisement.
You can get what you need from legitimate, honest, upfront sources.

I joined these and a few other Yahoo groups about a year ago. I agree, the notes and linked information available one these sites are tremendous. However, the way yahoo works the BB is outdated. Many of these groups have moderators and unlike here on allnurses, EVERY message has to go through a moderator before it's posted. I'm sorry to say at least a dozen times I have submitted a message to these boards and they were never posted but came back to me with a message indicating the "moderator" had not reviewed the message in 14 days and would therefore not be posted.
That is a huge disappointment and waste of time. If I post a question today here on allnurses, I can bet money I will get an answer the same day. WIth my busy schedule I don't have time to sit for days, weeks waiting for someone to reply. I might as well write a traditional letter and send it snail mail!! :rotfl:
So I encourage everyone studying to hit the Yahoo groups for the notes because they are very helpful and many folks put a great deal of time and effort into them but if its interaction and answers to specific questions, allnurses is the place.

Hey, you guys- go to this website and scroll down until you see "Rob Butner." Hilarious, and it has his pic...we now can put a face with the antics.
LMAO!!! That was the best description of him yet Spazzy!!!! A cocky fuzzy little pukey guy :) He does seem to have taken a new alias these days. Hmmmm wonder under what guise our little man is hiding???or maybe he is now under cover as a woman..we better get our Butner radars out! Anyone seen a cokey fuzzy pukey little guy lurking around these days????

If you haven't, you must (just must!) join the yahoo group called nontradnurses and there is another one that is useful called allnursesstudents (or something like that--search the yahoo group page for "allnurses" and it will come up). The nontradnurses site has file folders for each of the NC exams, with practice tests, notes from previous students. I found it so useful I made it the basis for my preparation, using google to fill in the gaps.
Also, in contrast to what one might see elsewhere, and this is sooooo strictly my personal opinion, the better your grade for each of the NC exams, the higher the probability that you will remember more for the NCLEX (and, golly gee whiz
, the practice of nursing), so I would encourage you to give it all you've got. Really push to learn. It pays off, first for you, then for your patients.
Good luck!
