NC Hospitals w/ Good New Grad RN Internship/Orientation Programs

Published

Hi. I'm a VA nursing student looking to relocate to NC after graduation, and I was wondering what hospitals offer good new graduate RN internship/orientation programs. I'm currently interested in emergency medicine and critical care and leaning towards the Charlotte or Raleigh area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. =)

If your are looking to stay in the VA system, the Durham VAMC (VISN 6) has a good orientation program; last ~4 months IIRC (used to be 6 and was shortened). DVAMC is across the street from Duke Hospital, and if you did the SNT program, I am assuming this was you externship, you may start at a higher pay grade than other new grads, again IIRC ~$48k with federal benefits and the rest.

If you need more info let me know.

Fantastic answer - but VA in this case is Virginia, I believe, since the OP says they're relocating.

That's correct, I'm currently a nursing student in the "Commonwealth" of Virginia...and I'd like to move to NC. :) I was just interested in hearing people's opinions of different new graduate nurse programs at hospitals in NC.

Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville NC, Very nice Magnet Hospital, They are actually having a nursing new grad open house on Saturday. They have good benefits, including a pension plan!
