NAU- Tucson Traditional BSN (Fall 2011 Hopefuls)

Published

Are there any other's planning to apply to NAU's traditional BSN for the Tucson campus for this fall? I just moved back to AZ after a year in Iowa and was planning on doing U of A's 2nd degree program but since it changed to an MSN and the estimated cost is 40K I have switched gears. I actually just discovered that NAU has the Tucson program and I am so glad I did. My back up plan after I decided U of A's program was a crock (IMHO) was Pima. Since I already have a BA in English and Pima's wait is so long that wasn't an ideal situation either.

So, looks like I have everything complete except the HESI A2 and maybe nutrition. I'm just finishing NTS154 at Pima but it doesn't look like that class will transfer for the nutrition requirement. I'm going to fight that though because Rio Salado has a 200 level nutrition that uses the exact same text and has the same course outline as the class I just took at Pima.

Well - good luck to everyone. Maybe I'll see you in a classroom in the fall.

Cliff,

Thank you. I'll try to seek out the FB page. I know there are several out there. Is it the NAU nursing Tucson page?

Thanks. That's too bad about the Hep B, but luckily you've already turned your things in. Have you gotten the scrubs/nametags yet? I find it odd that they didn't even mention how much the nametags cost on the order form.

O- No I haven't gotten the name tags or scrubs yet but I can't imagine the name tags are too expensive. Seems silly that they can't give the logo rights to a company down here though.

I did call about the scrubs and seem to remember that they're around $35 for a full set after the embroidery. There's a discount off of that but I think it will basically cover the tax. They said that we have the same uniforms as U of A (aside from the logo of course) so we should try to get them early to avoid issues. I meant to do it by now but have been busy and now we're heading out on vacation so I won't get around to it until July. Hopefully, I don't have size issues. I'm short but not petite :lol2: - so I have a rough time finding things that fit. They do alter though. Enjoy your summer.

The only problem is that I don't think you can ask to join the group, if you can great otherwise we will have to wait and I'll add you in the fall when things at school get up and running again.

Sorry- wasn't meaning to link just pointing out there are multiple pages.

Thanks Steve - haven't gotten around to ordering the nametags yet but at least it gives me an idea of how much they are!

NomadMomma, thanks for the scrubs info. I haven't gotten around to ordering anything yet since I'm still trying to get all my medical requirements in first. I'll be so relieved once that's all taken care of, then I'll be off to buying my shoes/scrubs/nametags/stethoscope.....

Have fun on your vacation!

Does anyone know where we can get a list of required text books? I'm all signed up but do not see a list of books.

I got the list (all except nur 214) from the advisor when I turned in my contract. I don't know if the different campuses do it differently.

Hello everyone.

I can't believe I just found this website. It is so much help. Also, everyone's discussion on this thread was very useful to me.

I plan to apply to NAU's Tucson location for Spring 2012. I have all my prereqs completed and just need to take the HESI exam. Any advice into getting in?

NomadMamma- you were very helpful. Would you be willing to discuss your GPA and Hesi score with me? I know the competition changes from semester to semester, but I would just like to know how my scores/gpa compares to those who have got in or got on the waiting list. :D

Anyone else willing to discuss their scores/gpa and placement??

Currently... I completed all parts of the application and my GPA is 3.7

I only need to take the HESI.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreaciated :D

beege - contact the advisor and she should be able to give you a list of books. I know that the books for pharmacology have changed though because she sent out an email a couple days ago.

kestep23 - I had about a 3.8 prereq GPA for my science courses. I don't know whether they counted the liberal/diversity classes into my GPA, but I know I for sure had a lot of B's going into those non-science slots and I thought my chances were shot due to that (I'm glad I was wrong though). Also, I had a C in my math 110 class. As for the HESI, I had about a 93% total score, got a 90 or over in all the subjects except anat&psio (I only got an 84%). The HESI was probably the most important thing in my opinion, seeing as to how my grades didn't look as great as they could have been because of those liberal/diversity courses and math.

I would say, study really well for the HESI, and far ahead of time. Buy the official study booklet - it helps in the math/vocab/reading portions a lot. The science classes are just the luck of the draw really, especially anat/psio because there is just so much to know. So study well ahead of time for that one. Good luck.

Hey oblivion could you forward me the email of books. I'm some what ticked because I emailed my adviser for a list of books and she just gave me a link to the book store. I then emailed one of the instructors and he said to look at the previous course packs fro spring and the books should stay the same. And I ordered most my books already.

here's me email. [email protected]

Thanks.

Beege,

I'll send you what I have in a bit. I was given a paper copy though so I'll just have to type it up for you.

-this is Nomad by the way. I changed my screen name.
