National University SD Cohort 52

Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to start a thread for National University students who are applying for the SD cohort 52 that begins in October 2017. I'm very excited about the future and wanted to share this experience with others that have applied as well. Please feel free to post questions, concerns, and accomplishments.

Has anyone received an e-mail for the TEAS 6 test date?

when you calculate your GPA do you include your grades from lab? or is it just lecture?

The forum included lab.

Hi everyone! I was wondering how everyone is preparing for the essay portion? I'm nervous about it, seeing as I'm not a strong writer at all. Any suggestions that you all are doing would be greatly appreciated. Also how do I calculate my GPA on the four classes that are weighed?

does anyone have an idea of what the essay prompts will be?

I was told the essay is a typical 5 paragraph essay and to make sure you answer the prompt. From what I have been hearing, the prompt is generally about why you want to do nursing or why you would be a good nurse. So more or less make the essay personal. I did a google search and found a website that calculates it and input my grades and units they were worth. Don't forget the labs are included.

okay thanks! I also saw from a previous forum that they had the prompt "Some say nursing is an art and a science. Discuss what this means to you."

what website did you use to calculate your GPA? I got an 85.3% on my TEAS but I don't think that score is competitive enough :/

Hello prospective Cohort 52 students!! Took the TEAS today. I scored 84.7% and GPA is 3.8. Writing is not my strong suit, so I'm not feeling too confident. Anyone know how to calculate overall scores? I don't get where the 30 comes from when calculating GPA score: 30/30=1*40%

from what i saw in previous forums its gpa/4.0 * 40, teas score/100 * 40, and essay score/5 * 20

how was the essay prompt? was it difficult to answer? I'm taking mine this thursday and im super nervous

This is going to be a long wait! I just took the TEAS and got an 82% - if I'm calculating my GPA right then I have a 3.85. I think the essay is going to be the kicker...Good luck everyone!

So I didn't do any better on my TEAS, In fact I got the same score as I did before (78.7%). I'm not too confident about it, but my GPA is strong at 3.94 so maybe that will make up the extra points lost as well as a good essay score. Good luck to everyone.
